I'm a REALLY heavy sleeper as it is and a complete nightmare at getting up in the morning so definitely not....I'd probably oversleep for my 3.30 ceremony lol

I don't like sleeping pills. My mum was given some after my dad died and had crazy horrible nightmares on them, I had tried one previously and it had no effect at all.

Nope. I had been a little worried about not sleeping but a big dinner, lots of laughing and a few glasses of wine meant that I slept like a baby, from about 11:30ish (my normal bedtime) to 7:30ish!

I will be popping a couple of night nurse! I find if I take them at say 8pm it means I don't get the groggy feeling in the morning but it will hopefully help me sleep. Otherwise I'll be wide eyed and waking up all night with a thumping heart!

If you've never taken them before then be really careful, not only could it leave you totally groggy in the morning but you could have an adverse reaction.

I've seen reports on hitched before where the bride didn't get to bed till the early hours and was awake again at about 5 or 6 but didn't feel tired at all - the adreniline will get you throuogh the day!

Oh and the more you worry about not sleeping the more likely it is to be a problem... Maybe try working on your sleep pattern over the next week so that your body is used to going to sleep at the time you will need to?

I wouldn't take a sleeping pill, but I have a lot of trouble just FALLING asleep sometimes, and since I have rampant allergies, I tend to take a couple benadryl before bed sometimes. Knocks me right out and I'm not groggy in the morning. If I didn't need antihistamines on a regular basis, though, I would perhaps take a tylenol pm..

If you're going to try them - trial them first!

I find the Nytol original knock me out, but I feel dazed and sleepy most of the next day. I never use these any more as I probably feel better with no sleep that being foggy all day.

I recently tried Sominex herbal ones when OH was away for 3 weeks with work as I really struggled to sleep alone in the house (I know I am daft). After a week of hardly any sleep I got these, and they were just enough to help you calm down and stop your head buzzing to go to sleep, but had completely worn off by the morning and felt refeshed (which I did NOT feel on the real Nytol, I felt like I needed to carry on sleeping for a week.)

I would also adivse you to take them no later than say 9.30-10 pm for an 11ish bed time so they have chance to work and wear off by 7ish the next morning. I.e. if you can't sleep, don't get up at 3 am to take them!

Also, if you're a small build, try half a tablet to start with.

Thanks everyone for all your advice. I think I will just let nature takes it's course, definitely have a couple of drinks and hopefully have a half decent sleep :-) x

I might take one melatonin tablet, as I take these occasionally when I can't sleep, but I'm hoping that I won't need to and a glass or two of Pimms on the balcony with my Bridesmaids might be enough.

Melatonin is what your body produces when you begin to drift off to sleep so it's pretty natural, but I wouldn't advise taking more than one (although the bottle says you can take 2) and I would definitely trial them first before hand to make sure you can take them.

LOL I only use that sort of thing when I fly! lol Hadn't thought about it but we won't be back home until really late the night before.....the wedding is at 8 in the evening so we can get away with having a few drinks the night before just to calm our nerves lol. Are you really that nervous??? When is your wedding?
