lyndz67, 25 March, 2014 at 15:24 Posted on Beauty & Wellbeing 0 10

Hello

Have been doing slimming world for 7 weeks now and lost 9lbs so far (i think i may put on when i weigh tomorrow).

Ideally i want to lost a between stone and half and 2 stone by my wedding in November 2014.

Any other brides doing slimming world and what do you do?

Need to add the exercise now. Only been engaged 3 weeks (short time i know) so the pressure is on as i really want to do it.

Thanks for reading Smiley smile

I've lost over 2 stone on SW since July. My only advice is stick to the plan. It works! Your target is very achievable, especially if you're planning to add some body magic into the mix.

    Onwards and downwards Smiley smile

I'm on week 2 and i lost a pound my first week and I've gained this week. I'm gutted! Just don't see how it can work. I gym 2-3 times a week and I have an active job. I've lost motivation already! Well done for the 9 pounds!

    Hi,

I'm new to the forum and this is my first post (slightly scary!) but I just wanted to say well done on the weight loss so far! You've done fab ?! To the other posters who are just starting out stick with it, it takes a while to get going!

I started SW in May last year (3 months before we got engaged so its not a wedding diet although it has certainly helped spur me on!) and have lost 3st 11lbs and am now pretty much where I want to be weight-wise although I would like to lose another 3lbs so I can say I've lost a nice round 4st. I've gone from a 16 to a 10 and feel so much better in myself.

I would say one of the key things is not to let yourself get hungry. Snack on your superfree foods to help keep you feeling full. I find it useful at work to keep a pack of alpen light bars in my drawer. They're 3 syns each (or you can have 2 as your HEB) but can help you feel like your having a treat with your cuppa. Curly wurlys are also good to have in for if you desperately need a chocolate fix! But the main thing is to stick with it as it really does work! Look online for new recipes to try to keep things interesting, we occasionally treat ourselves to a SW steak and chips with peppercorn sauce or a SW cooked breakfast so you feel like you're having a naughty dinner but still sticking to the plan! The added bonus has been my H2B has also lost almost 2st without even trying just from us changing our evening meals.

My downfall has been the exercise, my plan is to start doing some sit-ups/weights to help tone my arms and tummy before our honeymoon so any advice on some good toning tips would be greatly appreciated!

I am not a bride admittedly, but I am on a diet and have been since Christmas, I have lost your exact target but I have another stone and a half before I will be happy.

Your goal seems more than attainable. Cheat days are good, because it tricks your body into ramping up your metabolism, but I have found that by weighing my self every morning, I can avoid having cheat weekends and cheat weeks! Though I never cheat past a 2000 calorie intake. So food diaries and calorie counters are essential to success, because it is too easy to "forget" and justify needing it. Probably to much information but my fiancée says don't do a weigh in during a period, your body retains water during that time and it will give you false readings.

Diets are hard, because you are essentially running on fumes and your body hits a lot of plateaus, but it's all worth it when you walk round town having to keep pulling your pants up! I refuse to buy new clothes until I have reached my target weight, because I feel like I am seeing the before and after, and it keeps things in perspective.

I haven't exercised beyond walking the dogs for longer and longer (which they love!), but I will warn you go very slowly with the exercise, once a week to start then when you hit a plateau for a week, increase it to twice as much and so on. One because your recovery time will be longer, two hunger after exercise is more likely to tempt you into cheating, three if your body gets used to it too quickly you will hit a plateau and have no where in your pattern to change.

Another interesting fact I found, was that the body doesn't distinguish between hunger and thirst. So when you feel "hungry" around a snack time try downing a glass of water. Other drinks don't work. Finding that out has saved me cheating loads of times!

Again your goal is achievable and good luck with your big day!

    Hello

Thank you all for your replies. im plodding along and trying new recipes and my fiance is finding things as well that he wants to cook which is really good.

Jimeuph1 - Thank you. I dread period weeks and this week i have actually taken the week off from weighing in due to just feeling really bloated. Fingers crossed for a good result next week.

    Thank you all again

    Lyndsay

You are doing very well so far so well done!

Remember that you can slip up, gain the odd pound now occasionally and still achieve your weight loss goal!

Sometimes you have to take a step back in order to take 3 steps forward. The same applies to weight loss. It is rare that you continually lose the weight. There will be frustrating plateaus that you will hit now and then.

The most important thing is to never, ever give up! ?

    Hey All

I have been doing sliiming world for just over a year and have lost 2 stone 4lbs. The first stone and a half came off within 3 months, the rest has taken me a lot longer.

I have had weeks where I have gained 2lbs, the following week I have lost 3, then gained one etc etc etc so what with other weddings, all inclusive holidays which I have enjoyed to the max and general eating out here and there I have been very up and down and it has taken me a lot longer than I thought it would.

What matters is that I have never lost an "award" so I have only ever gone up and down a little bit, and the way I see it, if I wasn't going to slimming world at all I would definately be bigger and probably still gaining weight.

I have just over 2 months to go until my wedding and still need about a stone off. I'm not panicking cause I know I can do it, just focus on the good days and after a bad day just start afresh. You can't change the past so look forward and just keep going Smiley smile

    Good luck

    Jen
