Slimming World Taster Evening - what to take?!

leni, 28 January, 2009 at 12:53 Posted on Beauty & Wellbeing 0 5

Tomorrow is my 3rd week at Slimming World (lost 8.5lbs in 2 weeks!)

anyway, we've been informed it's taster evening and I'm wondering what to take! I don't want to make/take loads as my friends who I go with will roll their eyes at me (I like to cook/bake) any ideas what to take? What do people normally take to a taster session?

I'd seen a Banoffee Pie recipe but can never find Quark in the supermarket!

    Great weight loss, Leni!

Did your consultant not give you some ideas of the kind of thing to bring - or is a free for all type session? If it's the latter I'd take something syn-free / low syn and easy to make. Are there any dishes you've made and enjoyed you could take? Or a recipe from one of the magazines? Or some fruit skewers (thread alternate chunks of apple, melon, strawb, whatever on long skewers - quick, easy, tasy and free!).

Quark? Sainso's do it as do Tesco etc. You have to know where to look tho, so you might need to to ask!

    Here's what I take:-

    1. Blamonche type thing. 1 packet of sugar free jelly whatever flavour you like, make it up as directed on the packet then put it in a large bowl and add 2 or 3 muller light yogurts whatever flavour, whisk it round then put it in the fridge over night. Quick and easy one.

    2. I've made the quorn curry and I take the full amount that it makes.

    3. 8oz plain couscous, make it up and put it in the bottom of a casserole dish (or use one of Ainsley Harriott's ones) make up a Pasta n Sauce by Batchelors and pour that over the top once you've cooked it, whisk 3 eggs up, pour over the top of all that, sprinkle your cheese allowance over the top and put in the oven on Gas 5 for about 35 mins. Its been my favourite this week.

    4. Chilli Con Carne

All the tasting evenings I've had people tend to stick to easy thing but they always bring mountains of it. Thing is its the same people who do the cooking and loads of people don't bring anything so you're proably going to feed them anyway so just make as much as you like.

Hope that gives you a few ideas. . We used to have it the last Tuesday of the month. Now I've changed classes to a Thursday I'm not sure how often they have it but we have got one next week. I can't wait, I love them, saves me having to make my tea.

Also, maybe take a bottle of diet coke as no-one ever brings a drink and i can't eat without having a drink nearby.

    Enjoy

I tend to do something that is easy to make and sweet!

Last time I took SW Flapjacks

1 tbsp of Sweet Mince (3 sins)

1 packet of Oat so simple

warm the sweet mince for about 30 secs in the microwave until it is runny then pour in the oats mix and then either roll into little balls or roll out flat like a flapjack.

Stick it in the fridge for half hour for it to cool and then its done.

    Quick SImply and yummy!

Theres a lovely carrot cake recipe on their website, we make double the amount so its thicker, (which works out at 25 syns), and then if we're feeling greedy (which is the whole reason I;m having to go to SW) we can gobble down the whole cake between us. which is 12.5 sysns each or 1 HEB and 7 syns each.

I don;t use my syns much for anything else so it helps increase them.
