Slow digestion - remedies please!

GMT, 4 March, 2009 at 09:30 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 10

I don't want to put you off with TMI, but I've got a slow digestive system and it's really clogging things up at the moment, IYKWIM. Can anyone suggest anything I can take that might speed things up and make me feel better?

Thanks in anticipation!

    Cups of coffee
    Dried apricots

Two things I avoid like the plague as I do NOT have a slow digestive system!

Nick - been there, done that. Have a good diet, exercise (lots of walking) and have seen a consultant. He says it all works but it's just slooooooooooooooooow. He suggested linseed which sometimes does the trick, but I'm always keen to learn from Hitchers who may have tried other, equally succesful remedies.

Dried Apricots definitely work, as I discovered the first time i chomped my way through a large bag of them.

But listening to the opinions of a bunch of undoubted internet weirdos is such fun ?

I expect my slow gut is not of a magnitude to warrant any real drugs!!!!

Why not? i had loads of digestion issues after surgery which took 3 years to resolve. in the end domperidone did it (motillium over the counter). i d ring your cons and ask his view on it.

    Hi,

    just noticed this thread..

Something that I use is Peppermint Tea. I normally try to have one cup a day, at least. AFAIK it's pretty harmless, but it relaxes the bowels and promotes digestion..

I have a box of peppermint tea on my desk! And I take oil of peppermint capsules, too.

Waahhh, is that what it's really for? As a BTers I only knew of it being used for the side effects to aid lactation.
