Slow response from venue

Hannah, 27 January, 2022 at 10:34 Posted on Planning 0 5
We viewed our venue in October 2021 and fell in love so we emailed a couple of days later and asked them to secure our booking. We were told yes that’s fine we will send the contact in due course. We then went to the venue for an open day in November and the same lady who showed us around didn’t recognise us (not a big deal) so we asked her to send us the contract so we can secure our booking formally. She says yes I will send it before Christmas but you won’t need to pay until January. Christmas and new came and went without hearing from the venue so I emailed her second week for January and she said she would send the contract that week. 3 weeks later and nothing! Our wedding is May 6th 2022 so I’m wondering if maybe I’m just stressing trying to get the contract too early? How soon did other people get their contracts? Should I look for a new venue or should I phone her and express my concern?

We had ours within 3 days of confirming our date. If I were you I would go down there and ask to see someone and get them to send it or print it off there and then. you can then review it and sign it or discuss any concerns face to face as it seems they are not good at replying so could drag on if you have questions on any of the terms/costs. You don't have a lot of time and I would be worried they have changed their prices in the new year so may be more and this is why they are stalling, or they have sold the date to someone else. I will be honest, their lack of service and attention would be a concern for me on how they will run the day and I would personally look for another venue, bot that is just me.

I agree- We had a virtual viewing and booked it a couple of days later by email. The contract then came few days after that. This was back in Feb 2021. We viewed the venue in person in April 2021 after restrictions had been eased. We are getting married in July this year.
I, like Charlotte says would feel uneasy about the slow replies and their ability to run the day properly.

I would be looking for another venue - if they are this inefficient this early in proceedings, it doesn't bode well for your wedding day.

We got our contract a couple of days after booking. I’d suggest going there and getting it sorted whilst you’re there x

Our contact actually took a while to come through too but not like yours, people have been responsive on email as well and have acknowledged the delay. If I were you, I'd have serious alarm bells but also worry that May 22 is only a few months away and you might not get anything else??
To be honest, I'd go down there and slam the fist 😂😂😂 see what they do if you ruffle some feathers.
    Good luck!!
