Small but special venues for wedding/reception in/around Surrey

KookyK, 10 June, 2009 at 13:58 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hi!

This is my 1st post here so hello to you all!

I've looked in the venues section on here, and have contacted a few venues but as I am having such a small wedding not all places are suitable. Have you had your wedding somewhere small but lovely, or been to someone elses? I'd love some ideas! I think there will be max 20 of us altogether!

I want my wedding still to be special and memorable and so would like somewhere pretty to have ideally ceremony and reception, but just reception would be ok. I don't really want to go for a local restaurant , would rather something that stands out in my memory for being a bit different, or v special (though an unusual/picturesque hotel/restaurant would be ok!)! I don't have a massive budget, well I don't really know what my budget would be but I guess max 3k including everything!!!! Maybe more though perhaps 4k if pushed?

I think I'd consider us travelling a little distance for something really special so I guess somewhere within a day trip of Kingston-upon-Thames would be acceptable to my guests!

I'd be sooooooooooo grateful for any ideas!

Thanks for reading!

Hi, welcome to Hitched. I'm from Surrey so might be able to help. How about:

    Denbies Wine Estate, Dorking
    https://www.denbies.co.uk/

    Sandown Racecourse
    https://www.thejockeyclub.co.uk/sandown//pages/weddings-at-sandown/

A lot of the big hotels will also cater for smaller weddings. I'm getting married at Oatlands Park in Weybridge, they about three different rooms they use for weddings, one seats up to about 50 I think.

I'll have a think and see if I can come up with any other ideas.

    Hello ?

We're getting married in The Russell Suite in Pembroke Lodge in Richmond Park. It can hold up to 70 for the ceremony but wouldn't look "wrong" with just 20 in there. It's such a lovely suite of rooms and I reckon you could get it for a steal should you go more out of season/non peak. It has a lovely bar area and its own disco room should you want to use it - you can use as much or as little of it as you want and you won't rattle around in it as we saw when we visited some other venues.

    Firstly ?,

Secondly, if you near Kingston then come to the hitched meet up in town on Saturday (I'm in Twickers)

Thirdly, here are a couple lists of all the venues in the county that can officially host a wedding, which may be a good start.

    Surrey and Richmond areas

.....forgot about Orleans Gallery in Twickenham, we were potentially going to get married there and have our reception at The Wharf in Teddington but we saw Pembroke Lodge so never even visited the gallery in the end. Not sure what it's like but it's another potential to add to your list!

Or... we're staying at The Petersham in Richmond, I think they do intimate weddings...

Oooh thank you thank you so much girls!! Petersham Hotel is one place I was looking at, funnily enough. I'm off to peruse all the other ideas!

Is there another thread with details about your meet in Kingston? Not 100% sure I can make it as have 16 month baby so may be doing stuff with her! If not, I'll be there in spirit!

Thanks so much for your replies and links, I really appreciate it (sorry delay in replying - fleeting internet connection issues!).
