Small Wedding Ideas

Louise, 30 June, 2026 at 14:16 Posted on Planning 0 2

Hello,

I'm in the very early stages of wedding planning (no date decided, but looking to be 2028).

Our wedding will take place in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland but we are looking to have a relatively small ceremony (no more than 50 guests) then a larger reception at night with all family and friends. Just putting the feelers out to see if anyone has planned something similar previously or has any ideas on how to go about it.

I would happily go to a registry office mid afternoon for the ceremony with our close family then just celebrate in the evening and miss out the sit down meal and have a caterer supply food for later in the evening. However, my fiancé isn't too keen on this structure. Any suggestions on how to make that work too?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Many Thanks

    Hello
I would like to have the whole day sit down meal etc howvwer I don't want to be saving for years for this as it's expensive!
We are opting for registry at a nice venue and then hiring out a function room and it's proving to be cheap which feels nice haha. If I had the money I'd have the whole day

Heyy, i would probably be the same, if i had the money i would have the full day too. But trying to find a happy medium of what we both want with a realistic budget is hard.
Hope the rest of your planning goes well, thanks for the reply xx
