Smelly post... shoes you don't wear socks or tights with.

Fruit Gum., 14 October, 2008 at 17:45 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 12

I always wear pumps when not at work, and I don't wear pumps with socks or anything, just bare feet no matter what time of year. My new pumps I've found make my feet incredibly whiffy, I don't remember this happening with previous pumps (although I do wear them through and through for about a million years before I get new ones so could be I've forgotten) but anyway, someone mentioned to me today that it's just silly to wear shoes without socks and if it weren't for me being silly I wouldn't have the problem... but these sort of shoes would just look naff with socks! I can't be the only one can I? And does anyone know what I can use to make my feet less whiffy after wearing them? I dread the day I enter someone's house and there's a "shoes off" policy...?

Don't know about making your feet less whiffy but I bung trainers in the washing machine now and again.

Or you can sprinkle bicarb in them but be aware you'll leave white footprints when you take them off.

Deoderising shoe spray when you take them off and foot spray before you wear them.

Scholl do a dual action foot and shoe spray that has meant I can lose the gas mask when H takes his shoes off. It's about £3 from ASDA etc

I was going to say odur eaters too. I always wear socks though even with shoes that they look silly with. I've also got kind of fishnet socks that I wear a lot too.

I hate wearing socks too, but what I've found is that the cheaper the shoe the more smelly it gets. Real leather is pretty good, but cheaper man made shoes are terrible for smells.

My last pumps were from barratts (that didn't smell) these were from next (that do). You can make your own mind up about that ?

What about those tight like things that just cover the underneath of your foot, heal and toes? sorry not a very good discription but they wouldnt be visible with pumps and you can get them in Primark cheaply.

By pumps do you mean this kind of thing? I wear these all the time and you're right, you can't wear socks or tights with them. I've had about 20 pairs of these over the last 10 years and only one of them has had the effect you describe. They were from BhS and it was a really bad smell. I was kind of glad when they fell apart and I had to throw them away! I just lived with it, though I'm told odour eaters are good.

    Interesting...

My feet never usually pong but I noticed during the summer that whenever I wore my Next pumps my feet reeked and so did the shoes afterwards.

    Must be Next.

I propose we ask emma numbers (with her beautiful feet an all) to run a pong test for us ?
