Sofas, anyone bought from SCS?

Sunset21, 30 September, 2008 at 14:21 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 10

We still haven't managed to find a sofa we like and really want before Christmas. We want a corner sofa that's really comfy and cosy. We've been to lots of places locally and i'm amazed at some of the old fashioned looking stuff they're selling. I've seen this one in SCS which looks ok although i'm not sure about the shape of the end of the arm [fussy icon] Just wondered if anyone had it or had bought from SCS and what they were like. It's not mega money so I suppose in these circumstances you probably get what you pay for.

I've not used SCS, but have you tried sofaworkshop? http://www.sofaworkshop.com/sofas/corner-groups

I have but I haven't seen anything suitable, their stuff is quite small compared to the size of sofa we're looking for and I'd ideally like to see what I was getting before I bought it.

Stay away from SCS!!! We bought a sofa from them and it was an absolute nightmare. It's a huge long story and it would take me the rest of the day to tell you about it but if I were you I would avoid them like the plague!

We bought a sofa (well, 2) from SCS last year. I don't have any comparison (OK, I bought another sofa but that was about 14 years ago!) but they were OK. They did deliver the wrong sofa - we asked for a 2-seater sofa and a 3-seater soft bed but the 3-seater was just a regular sofa. They let us keep the wrong sofa until the delivered the right one. So, no marks for getting the order wrong but top marks for their handling of it.

We took their 12 (9?) month 0% finance out too (we had the money but thought we'd keep it a bit longer). We got a letter to tell us that our time was up with enough time to pay for it and we enough details to make it easy.

Ours is from SCS, great delivery and installation, not a problem at all. The sofa was great until I moved it to hoover and it came apart, 2 weeks after buying it. I gave them a call, they sent us the part and once it arrived I had to call for an engineer to fix it. he came the next day. Not a problem.

We got ours from SCS and we couldn't be happier!

Excellent delivery, even better prices (we bought on a bank holiday & had previously seen them for an extra £1k!).

Ok, well only one against so far. No harm in having a look I suppose. The last one was from DFS and despite a lot of bad press they were pretty good and sorted any problems efficiently.

We bought our sofa from SCS - we ordered mid Sept in time for xmas, it was finally delivered mid Feb after a lot of wrangling with their HO over the amount of time it was taking. The staff were just useless and the manager incapable of sorting any problems out. The sofa itself is ok for the price I guess.

A friend of mine also bought from the same branch around the same time - first they delivered the wrong sofa, which took 3 months to rectify. When they collected the wrong sofa, they didn't have the replacement on the truck so she was sofa-less for over a week (obv. they didn't tell her that before she let them take the wrong sofa.)

(This was the branch at St. O's btw - hopefully they have improved somewhat since then.)

It was this 2006, Sunset. I'd have hoped they would have had to improve their service to stay open this long.
