Something for the Mother of the Bride?

August 24 Bride, 25 January, 2024 at 12:17 Posted on Planning 1 2

Hi Bride to Be's!!!

I'm getting married in August, and i wanted to ask if anyone is having the same thoughts as me?

I have my dad walking me down the aisle, doing a Father of the Bride speech etc but i feel that my mom is going to be left out and thinking of ways i can make her feel included.

The night before the wedding it is just going to be me and her, she's going to get ready with me ect. I've purchased slippers and pj's for her like the bridesmaids but i want to do something for her on the day to make her feel just as special.

I've seen on TikTok a woman done a little speech and gifted her mum her bouquet on the day which i thought was so beautiful, i've seen mother/daughter dances but i wondered if anyone else had any more ideas?

THANK YOU X

Can you ask her to be one of your witnesses? If she's the kind of person who is comfortable speaking in public, maybe have a 'mother of the bride' speech instead of the traditional 'father of the bride' one? You could have her and your dad walk you down the aisle in a 'relay' (or both together if the aisle is wide enough) I'd ask her what she thinks - you might find that she is just happy to enjoy the day with no responsibilities - after all, being 'mother of the bride' is a unique role anyway!

    Hi there,

    Here are some ideas:

    - Witness of your wedding ceremony

    - Asking her to also walk you down the aisle alongside your father. Both your parents raised you, so it's a nice touch that both give you away to your future partner.

    - Asking her if she wants to do a small speech alongside your father.

    - You doing a small speech to include mentioning her as well as your father.

    - You could ask her to be the toastmaster for the wedding reception (if she wants to)

    Hope these ideas help.

All the best with the planning.
