Something old, new, borrowed, blue...

*sweetpea*, 16 January, 2012 at 13:49 Posted on Planning 0 8

Are you superstitious and having something old, new, borrowed and blue on your wedding day? I have decided against it as I already have planning coming out of my ears but would be interested to know others thoughts and how you are fulfilling the criteria if you are doing it!

I am Smiley smile Not because I'm superstitious, more because I like the tradition!

Old: Does my engagement ring count? I'll be wearing it on the 'wrong' hand until after the ceremony.

New: OH has bought me a present! I won't know what it is til the day!

Borrowed: I will be wearing my mum's pearl necklace.

Blue: OH's mum will be buying my garter, which has a blue ribbon. Her favourite colour is blue, so we liked that she is getting this Smiley smile

And the Hitched sixpence for my shoe!

I'm doing it just because I like the idea of it. Its one tradition that I think is fun but I'm not gunna stress about it too much!

    I'll be having...

    Old - Don't know yet.

    New - dress, shoes etc.

    Borrowed - Don't know either!

Blue - Probably baby blue knickers!

I think it's good fun too but because I'm not borrowing any jewellery I couldn't think what else I could borrow so decided just to give up on the idea!! Ha ha! No creativity clearly!!

    Old: not sure

    New: my shoes, dress

Borrowed: My cousin's veil and my mum's pearl jewellery (possibly the pearls double as old?)

Blue: my engagement ring has a sapphire in it, and apparently a cousin has bought me a garter as a present with a blue ribbon on it.

I'm having one of the actual cars used in the harry potter films - one of the blue ford anglias (they used 18 to make the film) : which will fulfill Old, Borrowed and Blue.

New : Dress, shoes etc etc etc

Can you combine 1 thing to cover 3 of them? Or do they need to be seperate things for each old borrowed and blue?

That sounds VERY cool!! I haven't seen the HP films so will need to google the picture but the whole idea is great !

I don't expect there are any hard and fast rules about whether it's 4 separate things or not - I would go with your own ideas of it!
