Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.

Ali_G, 13 September, 2012 at 09:03 Posted on Planning 0 12

Something old: a 1915 sixpence, the year my late grandfather was born (we're also getting married on, what would be, his 97th birthday)

Something new: my dress

Something borrowed: my veil

Something blue: my garter

Your turn.

    The full saying is

"something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue and a six pence in your shoe"....the six pence is supposed to symbolise walking forward through life with money

so AliG the fact that you have this in there is good.

    I'm having

Old: My mum's necklace - which will also be my borrowed

    New: My dress

    Borrowed: (see old above)

Blue: a broach attached to my flowers in the shape of a cat with blue crystals

Sixpence: My granddad has one, which he's going to give me.

Old - great idea with the sixpence, so I'll be going for that!

    New - My dress!

Borrowed - My sister is lending me a necklace

Blue - I'll be carrying blue marbles in a little bag with my bouquet. They are part of my late nan's solitaire set and I wanted a way of including her in the day (haven't told my mum about this yet as she's still very emotional about her passing)
