spotty skin - liz earle?

tea and toast, 26 April, 2008 at 11:18 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 18

I've been using clarins makeup, cleanser and toner. Over the last while my skin has been really spotty. I took an antibiotic which did clear it up but just after that I started using a molton brown sample cleanser/toner. So I don't know if it was the antibiotic or the molton brown that helped get rid of the spots. But now my skin has broken out again and I was wondering whether it's the clarins. This is a very long winded way of asking if anyone has any experience of clarins being very harsh? I always thought it was good for people with sensitive skin and now i'm not so sure. Any recommendations for other products I can try?

ETA: changed the title, wondered if anyone could give any advice about liz earle, is it good and what products do you use?id="red">

I have always had 'goodish' skin but tried clarins once as they were doing a promotion, mine skin broke out in terrible spots - it was definitely the clarins!

Oh, interesting! ? Mine really seems to have broken out since my molton brown ran out and I went back to the old clarins. Am going to try something else I think...

I have very sensitive skin and tried Clarins as was told it would sort me out. I had a reaction to it, brought my skin out in eczema. Was gutted as it was an expensive mistake to learn!

I'm now using Liz Earle products and they are the best I've found for my skin.

I think it's just a case of seeing what suits your skin. I bought a sample of Liz Earle stuff about six months ago and it brought me out in terrible spots. I've gone back to my Botanics although I am actually a Clarins fan when I can afford it!

Dr Svensk Tiger - did you get the starter pack thing from the website? I was wondering about getting that as a trial and seeing how I get on with it.

I got the £20 pack, it had a cleanser, toner and moisturiser, eye cream, body wash and body cream.

I liked the eye cream and body stuff but the face stuff made me break out. I found the muslin cloth to be a bit of a faff too.

It's pretty good value so worth getting if you want to try it. It does seem to suit a lot of people so maybe I was just unlucky. I was surprised I have to admit as not much seems to bother my skin.

You just reminded me that I have some of that deep nourishing cream stuff you use with the muslin cloth.
    so I put some on
you're supposed to wait 10-15 mins and then wipe off the excess, but it was all sucked into my skin after less than 5 mins
that's not a good thing is it [:I]

I used to use Liz Earle and it was great for about 6 weeks and then I just got spottier and spottier. I have been using Dermalogica now for about 18 months and its fab.

Not used Clarins but I know Clinique's products are very harsh. Virgin Vie do a range for sensitive skin and also a clarifying one for oily/combination skin. Let me know if you want some more information.

I've been using Liz Earle for about 2 months and it's the best product I've ever used. I use the Hot Cleanse and Polish, Toner and the Light Moisturiser. I actually really enjoy using the muslin cloths, I find the warmth quite relaxing.

My skin, whilst still not perfect, is softer and clearer and I find that when I do get the odd spot it clears up more quickly than usual.

BTW My skin is oily/combination if that helps.

I suffer from psoriasis on my face, as well as spots, and have found that the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, followed by the skin brightener has done wonders for my skin

Seems like there's people who react well to it and others whose skin gets worse. I guess I'll just have to give it a go and find out how it works for me! Going to order the trial pack anyway and see how I get on, can't get much worse than it is at the minute! Virgin Goddess - thanks for the recommendation, used virgin vie stuff before and reacted really badly to it, admittedly it was the face powder/foundation thing but it kind of put me off it.

    thanks for all the replies!

Sorry to hear that. Al our skincare has just been revamped and we have a lovely cleanser/polish that comes with a muslin cloth. You get a 30 day money back guarantee but can understand if you don't want to risk it again.

Liz earle brought me out in boils, yet lots of other people swear by it. I'm afraid it seems to be a case of trial & error. I do synpathise- I've been having a complete mare with my pizza face this month, although I sat in the sun for half an hour yesterday and today have woken up vurtually spot free (not exactly the lesser of the two evils, but damn it felt good!)

I use the Liz Earle Hot cleanser (I'm a fan of the muslin cloths) and polish, the revitalising toner and the moisturiser. I've been using it for about 6 weeks now and my skin feels much softer and it looks healthy. I'm an eczema sufferer, but thankfully this hasn't brought it out. After the first 2 weeks of use I noticed a difference, then I had a week where I had a few spots, but they cleared up super quick and now I've not had a single one since. So I wondered if my skin was just cleaning itself and getting rid of the toxins.

It looks pricey but don't think it's as much as Clarins.

    Good luck with it.

I use Liz Earle products and to be honest i'm fairly neutral about her, I wouldn't rave over her stuff but I can't say it's rubbish either but my skin hasn't been magically transformed by it. It was a present and I won't buy more when it's gone.

I like Biore products for my skin.
