Steak

HatTrick, 20 February, 2012 at 09:11 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 32

How do you have yours?

I'm not really a fan of steak but we had some last night and I feel sick just thinking about it, I usually have it medium/well done but these were really thick steaks and I thought they were cooked through but they were really pink in some areas and I just couldn't eat it. The dog was very happy!

Medium rare, edging more to the rare than medium side.

May as well have a beef burger if you're going to have your steak well done!

Medium / Medium rare depending on the cut.

I used to have it well done but its so much tastier when its pink. However, I dont like it to have that raw taste / texture where its a bit slimy. URGH

    ?

It's the texture of it when it's rare that I don't like. So squishy! ?

I'm with you HT, all blood must be gone so that means it has to be well done. I can just about cope with a medium these days though depending on who's cooking and their interpretation of medium.

I don't often eat steak but if I do it has to be medium rare/rare. Well done steak is like eating a piece of charcoal!

I like medium/well - still pink but with no blood. This has developed, I used to only eat it if it was cremated, which is a waste! I come from a family of butchers - so get really good steak at home, so I'd never eat it when out, it would never be as good as I can make at home!

Got to be Sirloin or Rib Eye (Fillet has no taste!) with home made chips and onion rings, roast mix veg and pepper sauce. ?

Probably well done. I like to be sure there's no blood left. My H likes his very bloody. I personally don't like chasing my food around the plate. Makes me feel sick. If we're out, he always sends his steak back if it's overdone. He's awesome at complaining, which is fab because I get free puddings. ?

MIL cooks hers in the oven and it is blacker than soot when it comes out. Dry as an old boot!

I like it rare. It's very rare (no pun intended) that I go to a restaurant that actually brings it out rare. It's normally at least medium-rare if not medium. So annoying.

Its get rarer everytime I make it! I always ask for rare when I am out as they always over cook!

At home a homemade peppercorn sauce is a must!

    Exactly this!

When I was younger I was put off by the rawness so had it well done, but never really liked steak tbh. As I got older I moved to medium well, then medium, and now I would say I like medium rare. I also started out on quite sweet wines, and now I think the drier the better. I've also gone from one sugar in my coffee to none; not intentionally, but simply because the sugar became too sweet for me...it's fascinating how tastebuds change over the years.

Medium rare dependant on where it is cooked. I like it pink but not oozing blood with a nice dark french mustard on the side. If a waiter.waitress asks how I like it I just say pink in the middle so they get the message.

H likes his Medium, i prefer mine the well done side of medium. Don't mind a bit of pink, but i don't do blood.

H makes an amazing peppercorn sauce! We usually have steak and peppercorn sauce and a leafy salad with a wholegrain, balsamic and olive oil dressing.

I don't like steak, it's chewy and horrible. Everyone always says that's because I haven't had it cooked properly. I have, it's still chewy. H likes steak medium rare, yuk.
