Steaming the dress

Lex, 5 June, 2023 at 14:00 Posted on Planning 0 2
Just wondered how common/sensible it is to steam my own wedding dress? My dress is being kept at our own house in my side of the wardrobe in the storage bag, both families live opposite ends of the country and we’re getting married in the city we live in- so it just made sense! This obviously means that I can’t have it hanging up prior to drop out any creases.

Will a hand held steamer do the job the night before the wedding in the hotel suite? My dress has 6 layers of thin material, mainly tulle
Thanks in advance! X

    Hi Lex,

I bought a hand held steamer from Amazon. My dress is quite big with the long train so I can't hang it up yet. I tested the hand held steamer and it seemed to do the job the other day. I'll have to do it properly the day or a couple of days before the wedding.

Make sure you test it on another piece of material before you steam your dress, just in case there might be dirt or anything else.

    Thankyou!
I’ve been looking at hand held steamers online and it looks like that will be the best way forward x
