Stone fallen out of wedding ring, grrrrrr

9 September, 2008 at 22:50 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 7

I've just noticed that a stone has fallen out of my wedding ring, I'm really annoyed. Considering I got married 21st June it's pretty crap! I'll take the ring into store ASAP (Ernest Jones), I just checked the reciept and it says a 10 year guarentee on diamonds, pah ?

Will they be total nobbers and tell me it's my fault and charge me for replacing it? It's this one:

I'm going to be very twee and say I don't want to send my wedding ring away to be fixed ?

I'm sure they'll be happy to help the poor newlywed out ?

Pretty poor that's a stone has come loose already, do you have it? If not, it'll have be sent away for replacement.

Can't imagine they'll charge you - that's what the guarentee is for.

They should get it sorted. I had the same thing happen to my engagement ring but I'd had it 15 months. It was from a different store but they were fine with it and I think I ended up with a new one (unless they replated it at the same time as fixing it).

Our rings are very similar (mine has 8 not 10 stones) and I've lost my second stone in nearly five years. The first time, my jewellers (Fraser Hart) told me it was "one of those things" and I paid about £70 to have the stone replaced. I don't know if it's the new stone that has gone again or another one. I'm hoping they might be able to tell when I take it in for repair.

I lost a stone from my engagement ring a few months back. I took it to my jeweller who had it for 4 weeks but couldn't locate a stone to fit. He hsaid I had to take it back to H Samuel. I did, they sent it away and want over £200 to replace the stone and fix it. I'm pretty sure that's half of what the ring cost 7 years ago! I'm in two minds as to get it fixed or save a bit of cash and have my jeweller make me a new, shiny ring.

That's pants considering your ring isn't very old at all.

I had problems with my engagement ring where the same diamond kept falling out and i've had the diamond replaced about 3 times F.O.C because it was under guarentee. You shouldn't have any problems if you have your receipt and you shouldn't have to pay.

I had a stone fall out of my engagement ring a few months back as well. Took it to my local jewellers who said the claws needed building up as well and quoted £350. I then took it to Timpsons (the key and shoes people) and as they've just started jewellery repairs gave me a 20% discount as well. Cost me £140 (with claw repair as well) and it looks really nice. So don;t always go with the first quote!!!!
