Struggling to find a venue in our budget

Rosie, 19 September, 2025 at 00:33 Posted on Planning 0 7

My partner and I recently decided to bring our wedding forward to 2026 (as opposed to a longer engagement) due to some health issues in the family and have an overall budget of £8-10k. We are wanting a church wedding and then breakfast/party but are finding it so hard to find anything in our budget.

The wedding will need to be a Saturday but can be after September when the prices go lower. We are based near Portsmouth and potentially are looking at a church in Wickham so somewhere close by would be preferable. There seems like every thing is over £10K which just isn't achievable for us as that would be our upper limit already.

I will be doing my own flowers with my mother in law, making our own invites and have a friend doing our cake and photography so that will save us quite a bit of money. I'm just not sure where to start as feeling quite disheartened upon seeing how expensive everything is.

Have you tried looking at non-traditional wedding venues, like pubs or restaurants? We booked a function room in a local country inn and it was lovely and way, way cheaper than all the 'wedding venue' places.

Alternatively, could you look at hiring a community/church/village hall and get caterers in? Some of these halls can be in lovely locations, especially in rural areas, and are often quite cheap to hire.

Budget venue hunting is stressful, especially with rising costs everywhere. Flexibility helps more than perfection. While shortlisting options, some couples relax with https://casinosanalyzer.com/free-slots-online/Cash-Bandits-3 to decompress.

A church wedding is a beautiful choice, but with a budget of £8,000–£10,000, a barn wedding is also very achievable. I came across Southend Barn with January to March packages available under £8,000, which shows that budget-friendly options do exist. You can likely find similar venues in your local area. You also mentioned Portsmouth, which is not far from Chichester. Barn wedding venues often include gardens, hidden courtyards and terrace-style spaces, offering a relaxed setting for you and your guests to enjoy the day.

Thanks you so much, we actually managed to book a venue a couple of months ago now and it's perfect. We have stretched our budget a bit but it's going to be so worth it.

Hi! It's been a tough day. I just needed a break. I tried galacticwins . It's simple, clear, and relaxing. I'll just say it's worth a try, it doesn't take much time. Sometimes you're lucky, sometimes you aren't. But no irritation. Overall, I'm satisfied. I recommend it.

    Hey mate,

I feel you — finding a decent venue that doesn’t destroy your budget is getting harder every year. We went through the same thing last season. What helped us was checking local schools, community centers, and even some church halls. Sometimes they rent out their gyms much cheaper than regular sports complexes, especially on weekday evenings.

Another thing we did to make it easier on the wallet — we started earning some extra cash on the side. I’ve been using https://mostbetbd.asia/ for the last few months. They have good odds on volleyball and other sports, and I’ve managed to pull out a nice little profit. That extra money basically covers our venue costs now.

If you’re in a big city, maybe look into sharing the rental with another team or starting a small crowdfund. What city/area are you in? Might be able to give more specific tips.

Good luck, hope you sort it out soon!
