Stupid question but who has buttonholes?

tash&ste, 10 January, 2015 at 14:42 Posted on Planning 0 9

I know traditionally it's just the bridal party, but we are only having about 20 guests max at our wedding. Parents, grandparents, siblings and children. So, who do I need to buy buttonholes for? Everyone or just groom and his bro (best man)? Or the groom, best man and dads? What about the ladies?

Why am I finding everything so complicated?! I swear I make things more difficult than they need to be... ?

Only the groom is having one for ours & only i'm having flowers. They can be for whoever you want really.

Generally it's Groom, Best man, ushers and Dads. Mums generally have them or a corsage instead. Bridesmaids generally have a bouquet or corsage.

Just groom in my case too. We only have 11 guests though! A couple of people have asked if they need one, but I've said no to all cos I don't want anyone to feel they are more important than others. They are all guests, there is no 'bridal party'. But yeah... I think it's just a case of whoever you like!

Funnily enough I've just ordered ourselves today. We are getting them for groom, best man and dads, ushers and mum's and my nan. We are having 4 different types and they come in 4's so it worked out really well.

Anyone you like! I got one for groom, best man, usher and my dad. Also got corsages for my mum, nan and OH's sister. Was only going to do buttonhole for groom originally but changed my mind when I saw them. :-)

So pleased you asked this! i thought i had to make them for everyone. now i may not do any at all - as inked doll said, everyone attending is part of our 'bridal party'.

thats a relief to know i dont have to spend three weeks battling with feathers, beads and craft wire for 67 people!

You do them for who you want, minimum is groom and best man - if he's having one, over that it's down to you but it would normally be ushers, groomsmen, dads with corsages for mums, grandmas. Some families do like to to do them for all the men - my OH's family does that. I'm' not lol. but it is totally up to you.x

We had them for the groom, best man and dads. For ladies, we only had bouquets for me and bridesmaids.

We're thinking of only having one for OH and having a badge of some sort for out little boy.

A good option instead of a full bouquet for bridesmaids is flowers on a wrist corsage bracelet so sort of buttonholes for the girls, like this.
