Suit hire

Chidders, 18 January, 2012 at 12:57 Posted on Planning 0 15

Hi,

If you have hired suits for the men in the bridal party, could you tell me where from?

Cost would be useful and any expereiences you have had, bad or good.

Just ordered from Moss Bros. Mr RB was an usher last year and the groomsmen were all in Moss Bross suits. They looked really, really good. Not too expensive, and the groom goes free. We paid about £500 for Mr RB, the two fathers, bestman and two ushers. Also, they can be fitted in any store nationwide and can also collect & return to any store. Useful if they don't all live locally.

We are using Moss Bros too. We are from Leeds, however my family are from London so I needed somewher nationwide so my dad can get his suit.

We pay for it in our local store and they put details of it on their computer and give you a 'code' so all my dad will have to do is give the code and get fitted.

The one we want works out £97 each with the deposit and when you but 4 the groom goes free

We've booked with Slaters Menswear. They have about a dozen shops spread around the country. The service is second to none. I can't remember the prices but I know it was either the same or slightly cheaper than the others I looked at (Moss Bros, Formal Affair, Greenwoods etc.)

OH decided to hire them from the bridal shop where I bought my dress, because we got a free engagement photoshoot. Which is probably no help to you at all. He paid £65 per suit and for an extra £10 each, they have decided to hire the shoes from there so they are all matching.

    Austin Reed.

Great service, groom went free, ability to return to different branches, were flexible with pick up and drop off times (two of our men folk and their suits for three weeks without charge). Several rounds of G&Ts given during trying on/fitting sessions.

    I'd thoroughly recommend them.

We're using Greenwoods or 1860 or whatever it's called. OH really liked the grey silk tails they do there and found them more comfortable than other places.

They've been good so far and are flexible about where people get fitted and where we take the suits back.

Moss Bros was top of the list, mainly because I could not think of anything else! Just popped to Debenhams to get a price list and a mooch (lusting after the Urban Decay palette along the way). No 1860 near me down sarf Kharv, cheers though. Off to check out Austin Reed.

    Thank you.

Chids try and look at independent stores, we did and it actually worked out cheaper than moss bross/debs, nothing was to much trouble for them and they were so accommodating, they allowed me to take 3 different sized suits to the North East because my dad couldn't make the suit fittings, at no extra charge. I've heard a few horror stories especially with Debenhams if you see the reviews on line they are pretty shocking.

We are using Austin Reed too, we get one suit free and the manager is bringing in extra sizes for all the groomsmen as our guests aren't flying in from Oz until the day before, (Moss Bro's refused to do this)!

We also get one suit free and as I know the manager we get 20% off ?

We have gone down the moss route too, OH is making the final decision at the weekend on colour.

Lucky we didnt order them when we did because we went to a wedding fayre at the weekend and got a voucher for £25 off each suit which is great as we only need 3!

After looking at local suit hire companies, we opted for Slaters - not sure if they still have it but they did have an offer for if you have 5 suits, the grooms is free ( so effectively you only pay for 4! - every bit helps!)

A friend reccommended them for quality and service and so far we have been impressed.

5 suits cost - £308 ( for trousers, jacket, shirt, cravat and matching hankie Smiley smile )

We are using Greenwoods or 1860 too. We spent the day going around tones of suit shops looking at deals, packages and trying on suits and my oh seemed most comfortable in the suit from there it also was the best fitting on him too.

We managed to get a deal back in september with 20% discount on every suit so it worked out that for 5 suits it is something like £280 and this inc one which is a highland suit for FIL 2 be. A real bargain as the suits are normally £75 each to hire.

I thought it would be easiest if part of chain, as we have suit wearer's in Bournemouth, Cheltenham and Telford. Sounds like your local place was accommodating though Claire.

Youngs at Debenhams for us as they were more helpful than Moss and pick up time is 1 week before the wedding meaning far less rushing at the last minute. Locals didn't have a grey tailcoat in a material we liked, and weren't well set up for scattered people. Moss had better distribution for us but that was trumped by the much earlier pick up for Youngs as it gives people more time to collect as convenient for them. Suits more or less identical in Moss and Youngs, same for prices, didn't really get as far as prices at our locals.
