Summer Starters

Sh7583, 15 April, 2009 at 19:32 Posted on Planning 0 4

Hi Ladies,

I am getting married on 22nd of July so will hopefully ( touch wood) be a sunny day, Anyway, me and kev can agree on the wedding menu except starters as he wants soup and I think if it is a really hot day the last thing people are going to want to eat as I bowl of steaming soup and bread rolls. Some other choices include Red pepper and Goats cheese, Prawn Cocktail, Chicken Pate, chicken cesear salad or salmon.

I dont eat meat so I would think Red Pepper and goats cheese for veggies and maybe the Chicken cesear salad for the meat eaters.

For are main course we are having a Carved Buffet which consists of Various meats Beef/Ham/ turkey served with Hot new potatoes, Pasta Salad, Rice Salad, Coleslaw etc and people can go up and chose what they want.

Any ideas wouls be very much appreciated.

I completely agree on this, the only thing is, that some veggies don't like goats cheese.

But I think that these are brilliant starters for a summer wedding.

    Cheers Ooh La la

Thats one tick for me. There is only 5 Veggies and two of them are me and my sister, the other two are my cousin and two friens from childhood. All of whom I see on a regular basis anyway so I will ask them.

Thanks for replying though, I just think soup is so wintery. I need a few more replies before kev might listen to me though. x x

We couldn't decide on a starter either and for various reasons couldn't choose one from the venue menus so we actually requested a chicken caesar salad which went down really well with our guests. Veggies received plain caesar salad - we'd asked for no anchovies in the dressing for anybody. Main was beef, dessert choc tart.

I would definitely avoid soup, it's the last thing people want on a hot day. Plus, greater danger of spillage, don't want to ruin your dress!

I'm not veggie but would def go for the red pepper and goats cheese, sounds yummy.

We didn't have separate starters, we had a veggie option for everyone (sweet pepper and parmesan tartlet), nobody minded.

Thanks CBear and Champane for your replies. I agree just my h2b who needs convincing hopefully I will get enough replies to show him.

Thanks again. Both ideas sound good ceaser salad for both one with chicken one without or Red pepper dish for everyone.
