sunbeds and spot help

MrsJewkes2B, 10 June, 2008 at 17:59 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 3

Hi - I appreciate that this is a delicate subject but I wanted some advice.

Since coming off the pill last year and going through hormone tests etc I have developed horrible spots around my neck. I knwo they are hormonal and docs put me on antibiotics. Last night my referral to the dermatologists took place. He said the were follistical (sp? I think) spots and has given me some better antibiotics (tetralysal) and a gel (duac) and said that sunbeds may well help.

now I'm not a fan of sunbeds = I've happy being pale and white and interesting - but if these sunbeds could help then I'd like to try as the spots are getting me really down and a bit depressed about what I look like. I appreciate there are cancel warnings and I'm not wanting to go on it to be tanned jsut to tryto feel a bit normal.

So my questions are -

- what should I look for when I go looking for a sunbed shop

- is stand up or lie down better

- do I need to put creams on or will a normal sp suncream be ok?

- i only want to go minimal time on this....

I'm really down about the spots and want to do something and so any help would be good.

thanks

Hannah

I'd be surprised if any hitchers are able to answer these questions because I don't think we have any sunbed users on here (too many of us/ our partners/ family have suffered form teh effects of skin cancer). In a nutshell, yes, a few sunbeds will clear up your skin. However, in order to keep up the drying effects, you'll have to keep going for sunbeds, and that is simply not worth the risk surely, to any sane person. Can I help you re. the acne? I am on exactly the same antiBs and cream as you and I found it took about 6 weeks to see any decent difference. [hug[ to you- acne is awful.

TBH if the specialist recommended it I'd ask him for advice

WHS - the best person to ask is the dermatologist. Good luck with it.

I know someone who used sun beds to help with her skin but they were specialist beds in a clinic. I'd ask the specialist for a bit more information.
