Has anyone tried them? Are they all similar or is one satnd out the best?

M+S has such a good range, but is a lot more pricey than asda for example.

Can get a 3 tier fruit cake from marks for £115, or under £30 from asda.................

We are getting a tesco cake, I know the proper ones are deeper and bigger, but I just want a cake to cut! As we are having a small wedding, it will cost approx 15 pounds!

I made a 3 tier cake using Tesco wedding cakes for my Dad's 65th Birthday. I then had one extra large one as an extra to serve. We easily had enough for 100 people, and everyone commented on what lovely fruit cake it was. A couple of people asked who had made it as they were interested for wedding cakes. So that is good enough for me!

We had a 3 tier M&S cake and it was delish. I've heard the M&S is supplied by the same cake people as some of the major supermarkets, so they'd all taste the same I reckon!

I think if you avoid Lidl and such places, fruit cake from any major supermarket or M&S is going to be more than suitable for a wedding cake in my opinion and yummy to boot. Fruit cake is fruit cake is fruit cake .... although M&S used to have the option of pre-stacked fruit/sponge combo cakes, and they do some really nice 'designs' if you don't just want plain or can't decorate it yourself ...

I'd never consider spending hundreds on a professionally made cake, you cut it, you eat it .... end of!! Unless you want something soooo unusual and unique, and have disposal income to spend of course!

I've had both Tesco and Asda fruit cake bars as I love fruit cake, not just for weddings!,,, and I'd say they were both just lovely!

My brother also had his wedding cake from M&S and the fruit one was lovely, was not over keen on the sponge layer though but then I am not a fan of any shop sponges. I have also tried a tesco fruit cake and that was fine too.
