Suppliers not responding

Leonie, 5 March, 2021 at 21:36 Posted on Planning 0 21
Hi all,

Is anyone having issues on here with suppliers not responding? I've contacted so many suppliers on hitched and half of them don't respond at all, is this because they don't have my date available or is it because they don't log into hitched or something else? It's beginning to really frustrate me x

Many are on furlough I would suspect or busy rescheduling weddings. Maybe contact them direct via there homepage or Facebook? Elongated response times are the norm atm. So I usually give them a week and then try again

Same thing happened with me. Most came back after a few weeks but by then I’d already booked with other people. Good luck.

Some of them I contacted months ago, unfortunately it means them losing business as if I don't get a response soon I will need to start looking at alternative suppliers. I understand with current situations its busy, however you'd think they would be replying and trying to book as much as possible considering how much business they would have lost last year due to covid x

Don’t blame you. I messaged some in October and didn’t hear back until December/January. As a result I’ve not used a single hitched supplier for our wedding.

If it has been months they likely won't reply. So I would just move on and book someone else

I think a lot are swamped with rearrangements currently but I would expect them to get back to you within 2-3 days really. Have you tried contacting via their own website instead of Hitched? Xx

Its been months for some of them? I haven't contacted via their own websites but might try this. Only problem there is if they have a hitched discount you would lose it if you contact outside of hitched x

I confess I haven't used anyone off Hitched as I asked my venue for a recommended supplier list and he supplied a few contact details but that was only after he had checked they were still in business as I agree it is a sad fact that many suppliers are no longer trading. My contact at the venue is on what he calls semi-furlough too so sometimes I have waited a bit for a reply from him on a few occasions.

I agree with another reply that they are all juggling rearrangements for 2021 weddings too, this is one of the reasons I am planning early as they are getting very busy with rearranged weddings and slots are getting booked up. We found that many hotel venues were very busy as we wanted a Saturday in July 2022. We have now booked somewhere else, not a hotel in the end.

    Good luck.

Yes fortunatley we have already booked our main suppliers. We have our venue, photographer, catering, dj and hair stylist booked already as they were booking up so fast. We aren't getting married until June 2022.

At the moment its mostly hire items such as sweet carts and things we are trying to find, also make up artist. We have found most our main suppliers some on hitched and some we found elsewhere x

We are getting married in July 2022 and have booked venue (which will include catering) and the registrar. We are on the verge of booking the DJ too. I haven't got as far as the other stuff but I did have a bit of stress getting the date we wanted as hotel type venues were booked up already! Crazy but true, I thought I had loads of time!

Oh yes we've booked the registrar too!

Its crazy how quickly things are becoming booked up. I will warn you I've had a lot of suppliers unavailable for my wedding which is 1 month before yours, I know it sounds daft but make up artists and hair stylists etc are booking up fast too! X

    Hi Leonie,

It could be that they aren't receiving your messages like you say. If I were you, I would try contacting them directly if possible and if they don't respond then follow up with a call. Usually suppliers won't respond if they a) don't receive the email in the first place or b) likely to be busy on that date.

If you are constantly having to chase suppliers, you should think whether you would want to work with them as it can cause a lot of stress when you are looking for an immediate response and you are not able to get through closer to the date.

    I hope this helps.

    With love,

    Laura x

As a supplier myself I can not see how it could be missed. I receive an email from hitched that says this.

    Request for wedding information

The user XXXXX has requested further information about your business (Photography By Bill Haddon) and the services that you offer.

    Message from XXXXXXX

    Category: Photographers / Leicestershire

    Event Date: XX/XX/XXXX

    Email: XXXXXXXXXXXX

    Telephone: XXXXXXXXXXX

Hi - we'd love to learn more about your services for our wedding. Could you please send some additional information?

    REPLY

Respond to your enquiries from your Hitched Business Admin

Or reply directly to this email

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To reply there is a direct link to my Hitched Business Admin area and through that I write my reply in the admin area and it gets sent to you and it will come from Hitched. Or I can reply direct to your email and that will come from me.

There are however a few problems in that the wedding info I receive from the enquiry is very limited, I get a date and that is it. Sometimes a venue will be mentioned but mostly I have not got a clue where the wedding is.

There is another issue with Hotmail that it is supper sensitive about junk and so the supplier may of replied but you did not receive it.

To be a supplier on Hitched costs £100s so its odd that they are not replying, you pay once a year so perhaps they have gone out of business since they advertised.

Thankyou I agree that I don't want to be stressing chasing suppliers nearer the time. I have continued to browse suppliers and look at other options x

If it was a while ago I think some setups delete the message from junk after a set time.

Hotmail is so bad that even if you have sent me an email first and I reply to that - then it still can see it as junk. And I have NO chance of attaching some sample photos as an attachment is a red flag to Hotmail.

Definitely when you find them on hitched also go to their website and contact from there via email if you do not hear back within 7 days max from a Hitched enquiry. No harm in contacting them via their website almost at the same time.

Check out their social media - have they posted anything recently.

Its only those suppliers that are a LTD company that could be on furlough. Any self employed should still be able to reply quickly as there is no furlough for them.

I have told Hitched over many years that their referral system is in need of improvement.
