Table names

AmyKate, 24 April, 2021 at 17:33 Posted on Planning 0 23
Hi everyone,

I am trying to think of names for our tables. I don’t particularly want numbers but struggling with what to name each table!

We have 10 tables plus the top table.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I’m not sure if we’re doing table names yet... another convo to have with him at some point! However, I was thinking about the possibility of places that are important to USB’s both. Like the place we’d went on our first holiday, for example.

I’ve seen plenty of other weddings - many of which just use numbers - but some of the more interesting ones include do using years that had meaning to the couple (years of birth, year they met etc.), names of things they both enjoy (games, toys, movies) and someone had famous people as their table names.

Ah a few good ideas there!

I’ve seen a few people doing numbers, but adding photos of the bride and groom at that age, but not sure how I feel about that, plus think it will be hard to find photos!
I like the idea of places that mean something! Thanks for your help

We went for places that meant something to us, with the site of our first date/proposal being reserved for our table!

Otherwise, pick names or numbers that are meaningful to you as a couple. Some of the ideas from weddings I've been to: words for love in different languages (cross cultural wedding & multi-lingual couple), different countries the couple have visited/would like to visit, names of different board games, cattle breeds (farming family), plants (keen gardeners), local historical landmarks (she was a museum curator and he was a keen amateur historian) and book titles. I've also heard of people using place names from Lord of the Rings and Jane Austen novels too. So maybe if there's a book/film series you like, you could take place or character names from there?

    Hi
We’ve used the Street Names for our first things, like first date, first kiss, first holiday etc and a bit is theme throughout our stationery. I think it’s just nice to pick something which is something personal to you ❤️

We are having beer names with the actual bottle on the table as my other half is mad on craft ale! I have been to weddings with place names, holiday locations, numbers, Bond films ?

Going for item names that can then be used as favours is a good idea - like the beers one. Others I have seen like that are favourite sweets, with that sweet in a bowl on the table. Or favourite chocolate bars which were then used as the favours.

More interesting ones I have seen were a star trek fan so you have Ferengi Romulan, borg and so on. Or a bride who was a marshal arts champion and they had the names of the holds used- complete with a QR code with a link to a video of the bride demonstrating the hold on the groom !

That’s a good idea to involve favours - nice way to include them as part of the day/ have a purpose!

Oh my other half would love the martial arts one as he does that, but I hate it ? I’ll see what he says!

My partner is calling all the tables (we have 6 plus top table) different football stadium names that either are the stadium of a town we’ve lived in, one that we’ve visited together, or a stadium of a football club that is of some significance to the family. I’m glad we’ve found something that shows his personality as I was always worried my personality would take over in the wedding because I’m doing a lot of the planning!

We’re thinking of doing albums for each table... like vinyl LP covers, as were both very into music. Gives me an excuse to buy a bunch of records too!

That’s a great idea. I totally agree about my personality taking over as my partner is so laid back he doesn’t mind but I feel that he should have something that he has chosen on his own!

Here is a "spin" lol on that one. They used the actual record or rather any record and redone the label which kept the colour scheme and also made the band names big enough to read easily. But kept the bands style of writing.

    Table names 1

    Table names 2

I went to a wedding of some keen skiers and their tables were all named after ski resorts. This could work with lots of hobbies/ interests I think.

That's an interesting thought. When we were going to do a big wedding, we were going for a Harry Potter style, and we wanted to do signs instead of numbers like they did in the movies. That would have been so cool. What style of wedding? That would have helped with the decision.
