Is there anything you and your h2b are really passionate about that you could use as inspiration?

Me and my h2b are mad sci-fi/fantasy geeks, so we're naming our tables after civilisations from Star Trek, Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and ...err... Twilight ? (that one is mine, lol)

We are having Spurs players as ours. Our friends had animal names as they went on a honeymoon to Africa on safari. You could have cities you've visited, bands/gigs you love/have been to, or flowers (our other friends had this)...there's loads you could have (can't think of any more - I did a 13 hour shift today, so brain's a bit frazzled!) xx

We're having surnames that have run through our families. Its particularly special to us as my grandma passed away in March so we;re having her maiden name as one table name and OH Grandad can't make the wedding as he is too old to travel so it seemed a nice way of having a part of them with us on the day.

I've also made sure that someone sitting on each table is someone with that name, thought it would be a talking point and help break the ice with each table.

We're big film buffs so each table is being named after a film with a love quote under it like 'Braveheart - i will love you my whole life, you and no other' Smiley smile

    xx

Thats exactly how we feel. We weren't really sure what we were going to go with before but as soon as someone suggested it I knew that was what we would go for, as it nearly made me cry just thinking about it!!! and its also a good way of keeping alot of family members happy at the same time!!

How about places you have been together or first dates etc or after things to do with where you got engaged, or places / things you're going to see on honeymoon?

We're naming ours after favourite bands we have been seen together as that's our thing.

My friend had famous couples which I love. They did a real mix, like 'Ginger and Fred' 'Ross and Rachel' 'Morecombe and Wise' etc.

It's so much fun choosing things like this isn't it!

    We are naming our tables...

    LOVE

    LOYALTY

    ETERNITY

    FRIENDSHIP

    BLISS

    PASSION

    DEVOTION

    ROMANCE

    CHERISH

    EMBRACE

under each name we are having a quote...

One of our quotes is "this day I will marry my friend, the one I laugh with, live for, dream with, love"

I went to a wedding the other weekend with film names as the tables - we cousins were on 'Inglorious Basterds' so don't know what she was suggesting there ?

For ours we are combining our passions - mine is the movies and H2B is cars. So we are having famous cars from movies. I think that'll be fun x

Lol us too. We couldn't decide on one theme, as he loves guitars, cartoons etc and I erm well don't! So we have chosen 5 completely random things for the table names but they all reflect us perfectly. Unfortunately those guests who don't know either of us very well will probably think we are mental. We are having:

Les Paul table (guitar, H2B idea)

    Spiderman table (agan H2B)

Jelly Baby table (I am a sweet addict)

Fiesta table (long story but I love my old banger!)

Three Kings table (3 famous racehorses as me & my dad love racing)

Ah well I guess it is unique!! x

We are having numbers but the signs for the tables will have the number on and a picture of each of us as children on the sign (IYKWIM). Figured embarrasing kid photos will get all the guests laughing at us!

This was much better than any other options we could think of (as we both work at the same insurance company, one extremely sad suggestion was the names of the policy wordings that our company sell! ?)

We went through several ideas but have so far settled on places that we will visit on honeymoon with picture postcards... We are also having a honeymoon gift list so thought it would be nice for the guests to see what we are going to be doing!

    Sri Lanka

    Colombo

    Anuradhapura

    Dambula

    Sigyria

    Pinnawela

    Polonnawura

    Thalawakale

    Maldives

    Mali

Meeru (or whichever island we end up on!)

Just be careful when picking themes - I've made table names for tables called 'Lemsip' (they were struggling to find 12 'lemon' themed options....), 'Sour Dummies' (which is up there with the earlier film title!)... and 'Spatula' and 'Grater' as one of the couple was a good cook...

Sometimes the use of numbers, written rather than numerical, can be just as nice!

We are having different types of tea, out theme is vintage tea party and a friend suggested it. Up until then we werent going to name the tables but have a different table runner on each table and then have the material on people's escort cards so they match their card with the table runner (if that makes sense).

When we were having our larger wedding next year we had decided to have dates as table names so we would of had:

    1977- OH's year of birth

    1981- My year of birth

    2000- The year we met

2002- The year our daughter was born

2006-The year our son was born

2011- The year we originally would of been married

These would of been accompanied by a corresponding personal pic, baby pics etc and if we had needed more we would of had my parents and OH's parents wedding dates with pics of their wedding day.

We are now having a horseshoe shaped table for our small number of guests so have no need for table numbers unfortunately as I was really excited about my idea lol!

I saw one where they had numbers but they all had a deeper meaning

5 - number of years they had been together

60 - number of months they had been together

260 - number of weeks they had been together

1825 - number of days they had been together

    and so on......

Oh I like that one, could make it a game too for guests to guess the meaning of the numbers and the winner gets a gift or something.

We got engaged on a cruise last year, so we are going to name our tables after the places we stopped on the cruise.

YOu could use holidays that you ahve been on or places you have visited together . . .

We're planning on naming our tables after castles we have visited as it's something we both enjoy. I don't know how we are going to narrow it down though because we've been to that many. We thought we could have a picture of the castle and some facts; give our guests a history lesson as well as something to talk about!! It could work just as well with place names or films.
