Table names or numbers?

jen_hhl, 24 November, 2010 at 16:19 Posted on Planning 0 53

I cant decide wether to have table names or numbers. What is everyone else having? Since my OH is a golf fanatic we were thinking famous golf courses then that way he has a bit more input into the planning. Or as we are both scottish, maybe lochs or hills. This is perhaps the only thing im indecissive about, inspiration would be great.

Thanks

Jx

My OH is a kiwi and from Auckland so we are having landmarks/places in auckland, with a picture and some information on the reverse about the place instead of table numbers. More of a talking point i suppose and ties in her roots.

We are having names but yet to decide on the theme. It will either be musicals or famous authors.

I think the problem is not having a theme for our day.

Ours is a water theme so we're having rivers that my other half has paddled on (he kayaks) and seas/oceans that I have paddled in! He thinks it's cheesy, which maybe it is but I still like the idea.

We're having names, Spurs players from the current squad as OH loves them probably more than he loves me (or at least very nearly!). I am a fan too (no choice really, 7 years with OH turned me) so I quite like the idea. Plus I picked most of the other things so it's only fair x

Our theme is red roses, so we are naming our tables after the different types of rose.

We dont have a theme and have chosen names that mean something to us and out guests, so, we have gone for pub names!!

we both love our real ale and spend a fair bit of time with friends in pubs so we are using the names of our favourite pubs or pubs that have good memories for us!

also our fiends will be able to reminisce looking at all the names! te he he!

We are getting married at a venue in the New Forest so were going to name the tables after different trees that you find in the New Forest - then if we're short we'll add some of the animals too.

Stops people thinking that table 1 is more important than table 5 even though they're all equally high up - or low down - the priority list.

The important people are on the top table. Everyone else is equal. Period.

Hehe Like me... I struggled for ages.. but you know the one thing we do the most (besides eating and sleeping!!) is drinking.. Im a complete Wino... so our table names are going to be drinks / wine that we love..

I have a few in mind so far, not sure if our tables are 8s or 10s yet but will decide soon !

I think we're leaning towards names as some of our families are 'touchy' and would probably complain that they're on table 4 when "so-and-so, who's only a cousin, is on table 2"...

We have an autumnal theme, but I can't think of any names connected to that, so we're thinking of Waterfalls - we went on our first date to Ingleton round the waterfall walk and there's plenty waterfalls around that area to choose from.

Names for us too - we're picking the first places we went out to together. Some of them are a bit random but it makes us laugh!

If you don't have a theme you could name them after the people on the table.

So a group of friends could be called "The Cheeky Chums Table", his family "The Superb Smiths" yours "The Juicy Jones'" the distant family "The Rocking Relatives"

    etc etc

We're having numbers - I really can't imagine anyone getting uppity over it but if they do, then I shall let them sulk! We're sitting fairly centrally so they'll all get a decent view anyway.

    Hi

We are going for names too, but as we don't really have a theme, other than colours are baby pink and invory, wereally did not know what to call the tables.

So we are having gold fish bowls as the centre peices, we have decided to name the tables after flowers that are pink in April and then in the bowl make a display with that flower.

For example the table name is Rose and in the bowl will be light pink roses ect....

We are going with titles more than names, each table will be a wedding tradition with a definition/origin on the other side just for info

We will have 4 tables (at minute, tho it may increase) so thought bout the Something Old table, the Something New table, the Something Borrowed and the Something Blue table with explanations on but i think i prefer the Throwing Bouquet table, the Chimney Sweep table, Throwing Garter table and the Carry Over Threshold table lol

We're having colours rather than names or numbers. Ivory for the top table, then red, blue, green, pink and yellow. Centrepieces kind of give it away with this so no explanation needed, but just to make sure we'll have place cards printed on the correct colour card.

Such lovely and some very original ideas. I'd love to do names but like Cricket Bride I think we're having numbers. I can't think of names for all 23 of our tables so it's tough really. We considered places around Sheffield where we first met and lived but too much bother and Sheffield doesn't have 23 interesting places to choose from anyway!
