I think this will be a little project for OH as we're having types of VW cars (or VAG so we can have the Audi Quattro). Gonna take photos at a VW show next year and then OH can have some info about each car on the back. This has nothing to do with our "theme" but fits us perfectly!

I havnt quite decided yet. Choices are :-

    1) Names of places we have been together ...eg Dublin, Cyprus, Turkey, Egypt, Lymington.

    2) The word 'Love' in diffrent languages 'Amore' etc

    3) Saw on 4 weddings once they had songs and when the song played the table all had to get up and dance. I cant quite see everyone getting into the spirit of that though....and wouldnt want them to feel pressured into anything.

We're having table names - our theme is 'enchanted summer garden' (very girlie, dusky pink and sage green, fairies and butterflies - still don't know how I got OH to agree with this!) so our table names are going to be the fairies from A Midsummer Nights Dream: Titania, Oberon, Puck etc. I'm an English graduate so it's very relevant to me ?

Like this thread, we want names not numbers but are stumped.

I suggested places we have lived (h2b and I have been together for 9 years so we have lived in many places), e.g. Greenwich, Blackheath, Bethnal Green etc, but h2b said this would be confusing as people from Greenwich may think they have to sit on that table.

I have no other ideas. I love knitting (hence my name on here) by h2b is not a knitter...

    Will be watching for ideas...

Well, Tina Teaspoon just gave me an idea (I saw her name)... we could have favourite childhood characters or tv shows- we can both pick them- Duckula, Rainbow Brite etc etc.

I wonder what h2b will think...

We have ten tables to name, I wanted to have names as I'm trying to put our personal stamp wherever I can.

    Were having

    first date

    first home

    first holiday

    first met

    current home

    holiday where we got engaged

    honeymoon destination

    address i grew up

    address oh grew up

One more to think of and I'm not sure which to use as our top table, probably our honeymoon destination

My OH is in the Navy so our table names are all famous sailors or pirates, is Captasin Jack Sparrow, Popeye! We've had much fun picking out the guests for the table names! Just hoping they see the funny side of it!

During a wedding, tables are conventionally identified by number. But this has lead to some problematic situations at times. So I think it’s better to go with table names rather than numbers. It is also better if you can get someone to help you out with the planning, layout, etc. table names is much more fun than table number and is easier for your guests as well to identify each other.

We didn't have a theme as such. Our colour scheme was pink and purple to go with the flowers, bridesmaids dresses etc, but after much deliberation, I suggested woodland mammals and my OH was happy with that (he wasn't really that bothered either way!!)

    So ours were:

    • Hedgehog
    • Dormouse
    • Red Fox
    • Squirrel
    • Wood Mouse
    • Hare
    • Stoat

I'm a zoologist and we're both outdoorsy so it had to be something animally! Plus our venue was a National Trust place with acres of woodlands in the estate.

We've sort of decided on what we're have on each table for our lucky table name theme:

Horseshoe - for the top table

    Penny

    Four Leaf Clover

    Rainbow

    Star

    Dice

Where from, Claire, and what colour? If they're similar we might even be able to share them or something!
