Table plan - help/advice needed

Mrs EtoB, 14 April, 2014 at 16:41 Posted on Planning 0 11

I'm hoping for some opinions/ advice re: a table plan.

Neither me or h2b are create souls so we are really struggling to think of how to do a table plan. I had come across these multi frames and thought that would be the solution as we could just print names on paper and put them in the frames - but now I'm having a wobble as the layout of the frame obviously doesn't match the layout of the room - do you think that matters?

If anyone has any other ideas of doing a really easy - non creative - ie no cutting and sticking of card/ decorating etc – table plan, I'd really appreciate it - thanks!

It's a good idea. There are so many configurations of frames though, I'm sure you would be able to find one that matches your room configuration more or less.

A good thing to do is to bear in mind that on the top row of the frame, you could have 'Bride & Groom' (names) on the left, Top Table in the middle frame slot, and 'Wedding Date / Venue' in the top right slot. That's if you need the slots filled with something, I mean (ie. if there are too many photo apertures). You could do the same kind of 'filler' anywhere in the frame with such text, or even a photo or two of the happy couple. That'd mean you force the photo frame into matching your room configuration!

    What is your room configuration?

    eg.

    Top table

    1 2

    3 4 5

    6 7

Hiya, you could try something similar to that but with a different layout that would suit your table arrangements, I know it means a bit of a trawl but charity shops, car boot sales etc are always worth a try.

I'm on a tight budget so trying to do alot myself, I'm lucky as I found a big gold picture frame and easel in the charity shop- for £5 for both!!! It's a bit cheeky but I found some wallpaper that I liked for the background, & ripped some off the sample roll from the shop to use!!!! I've put that in the frame then I'm going to use ribbon to attach to the frame to hang luggage labels from for the table plan.

I'm also going to hang photo's from this of loved ones that have died so we can remember them on our day- especially my Mum, even though she isn't there in body I know she'll be there in spirit & wouldn't be pleased about not being included in the seating plan!!! I can't figure out how to attach a photo to a message, I'm rubbish with computers!! I'm going to try & post some photo's in a new feed so you can look and see what I mean, Hope this helps xx

We are having a multi frame for our table plan and to be honest it never occurred to me that it might not match the room lay out. I don't think it really matters, if your guests can see they are on table 1 for example, they just need to find table 1 in the room.

Kind of sussed it lol, you could have a cream frame with whatever backing paper to suit your theme, I haven't finished it yet but that's the basics of it. I know mine's a bit naff compared to some but you can have a play about with it xx

I think it's a great idea. I don't think the layout matters at all. I've never seen a table lay out that actually matches the room. We're having a mirror (£20 the range!) and writing the table names in glass pen.

Hobbycraft sell table plan templates. I've not bought one so I'm sure exactly what they're like but they have them on their website - https://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/invitations-table-plan-champagne/567590-1001

I don't think it matters that they layout of the tables and frames match, as long as you have the table name/number in the frame as well as on the table people will find their way! And if you have spare frames you could add things like photo's of yourself, or people unable to be there to give it a more personal touch.

We have 10 guest tables and then the top table, so in this frame could we have:

    Top table (Bride&Groom) Table 1

    Table 2 Table 3 Table 4

    Table 5 Table 6 Table 7

    Table 8 Table 9 Table 10

Although that's not the layout of the room (as of course table 1 does not sit alongside the top table) do you think it won't matter? It won't confuse people?

Your frame will be fine done like that !

As long as you have a normal room shape, and tables 1 - 4 are indeed closest to the top table, and tables 8-10 furthest away, people will find their table easily.

It would only confuse people if it didn't resemble the layout at all.

I think that frame is awesome. I have just started thinking about our table plan and I was just going to get the one from hobby craft, get a bit of ribbon and a bit of glitz and go from there. Your photo frame would be so much better though!! I love it!

I found these on amazon that could be draped over the top. I think that would work! http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00B5OQFYA/ref=ox_sc_act_title_4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AR5LAX0EVL1K6

Good luck with making your table plan!

    Thanks for the reassurance ladies!

The great thing about this is that we can keep it afterwards to put out wedding photos in!
