Table Plan ideas needed please!

Kat44, 10 February, 2011 at 11:24 Posted on Planning 0 20

After seeing some lovely threads on here where people have made their table plans match their theme wonderfully and look fab, I started wondering if there's anything I can do different with mine, or if it would be best/easiest to stick with a traditional one?

We aren't having a theme as such though, our tables will all be named after one initial of our surname (6 tables), so not a great deal to work with! We are having the odd butterfly decoration and me to you bear scattered round (I know not to everyones tastes!) but I wouldn't say it was a major theme.

There is a table in the entrance which we are going to put some photos of us through the years on, so don't want to overload the place with our ugly mugs lol!

I do like traditional table plans but just wondered if any of you lovely creatively minded ladies could come up with any inspiration just to make it a bit different!

TIA

I've started mine (Already, I know!)

I've decided on a large vintage trunk, opened and in one side (Left) the tablenames and each person at the table will be pegged on and on the right side will be a few photos (Black & white or sepia) pinned on of us as babies etc.

    I like that!

See, thats what I mean, I feel it might be too hard to do something different as I'm not having a vintage/travel/birdcage-y type theme!! (will keep trying though!)

I know this is not going to help me but I just found this on google - can't decide if it's brilliant or naff!! lol

    On the contrary!

You could get another set of letters, and use that set to write all the names on... stand them in a line on a table as your plan?

Get 2 sheets of mountboard, cut the letters out of one and layer on top of the other, have the names printed into the letter shapes.

(I can't find any pictures to explain what I mean!!!)

I want your brain!!! (not in a weird science kind of way).

I like the sound of those ideas! I think I know what you mean..

We're having wooden letters spelling Mr & Mrs as the top table name then the other tables would have number holders with card with the initial on it, so I like the ideas of combining those as the table plan.

    Thank you.

Could you get some more wooden letters to spell your surname and stand them up on a table with the guests names written on the appropriate ones?

Here was ours for our autumn wedding. It cost pence (we cut off the back of our left over menu cards) and took no time at all!

Our tables are being names after pubs and i and going to print off some frame images like these and add them to a large piece of card with the names for each table in each frame!

Trusty Ebay! It's huge! It was only £15 and we picked it up, fairly locally (45 mins away). Can store all my wedding keepsakes in it afterwards.

I'm attempting to do a tube map-style one. Have already made placecards:

but with 200+ people it's proving really complicated to use the existing tube map and just replace the station names, so for simplicity's sake I think I might have to redraw it so it doesn't look so convoluted! Am going to print onto the biggest bit of paper I can and put it up at the entrance.

You could name the tables after places that you have visited together or favourite songs or maybe Favourite sweets? You could then place little celophane see through sweet bags with a 20p mix up in it and take it back old skool! All grown ups are big kids at heart if you put a bag of flying saucers and some shrimps and cola cubes in front of them?

Wow there are some really creative people on here! We have been boring and gone with a 'normal' style-

I plan to make it this weekend...fingers crossed it works!

I love the idea of using letters corresponding to your initials, and then either writing the names on the appropriate letters or hanging luggage tags etc from them with the names on....found these in Graham & Green which give you the idea. They have some lovely grafitti styles you could add in places too https://www.grahamandgreen.co.uk/

Thank you Claire_lou, that's really kind of you! I was stressing over a table plan as I knew I'd need something that could be made last minute as we wouldn't know until the 11th hour whether several family members were coming. Therefore, doing something complicated/structured/made by a professional was out of the question. All I made were the cards and the florist supplied the rest. The leaf skeletons came from Hobby Craft and the whole lot can't have cost more than £5!

Hello Mrs Hawkins! Our florist kindly supplied them and the vase foc for us. I wonder if yours has something similar you could use. I'm not sure but they might be called curly hazel (or willow?!) twigs. Hope you manage to track some down!
