Teenage bridesmaid dress!

Hyacinth, 16 February, 2022 at 09:59 Posted on Wedding Attire 0 9
I have two bridesmaids. One is aged 15 and one is aged 5.

I cannot find anything suitable for the 15 year old. She has a tiny frame but large bust. Her height for clothing is 164cm.
Monsoon do aged 14-15 which are too big for her on the waist, then the size below is 12-13 which fit the waist, but aren't long enough and don't fit across the bust.
I didn't think it would be this difficult. I've spent thousands ordering and sending stuff back from all the usual places.
We don't have time to order anything. The wedding is on 8th April. I honestly didn't think it would be this difficult.
Can anyone help? Am I missing any crucial retailers that stock junior bridesmaid dresses. The adult bridesmaid dresses are too grown up for her.
All flower girl dresses stop at age 12. It's all so frustrating.
Thanks in advance. L

Could your seamstress take in a larger dress to fit her waist? Otherwise, I’m using JJs house for my BMs (and have used them when I was a BM last year). For +£19 you can get a dress made to your custom measurements. If you order now it should arrive early March. You can do express shipping too, but not sure of the details. Good luck!

Thanks Tamsin. I wasn't sure whether to trust JJs house or not. It gets bad reviews on trust pilot. I wasn't sure if it was a legitimate website. 😬 I don't have a seamstress. I've had my bridal gown made to order at Jesus Peiro in Spain. They don't do bridesmaid dresses. So it would mean finding an independent seamstress. I had hoped to just buy off the peg.
I'll consider JJs 👍 thank you

I think most of the bad reviews come from people trying to return stuff outside of their returns policy, so I would suggest reading it before deciding if you want to buy from them. It’s nothing crazy, it’s just not like Amazon or ASOS where you can buy 5 dresses and expect easy returns for 4 of them 😂
When I was a BM I think both of the other BMs returned/exchanged their dresses and didn’t have any major problems. We all found the sizing to be accurate based on their charts, and my BM has said the same. I hope that helps!!

If it's just having the waist taken in, it shouldn't be hard to find someone local to do it. If you already know there is a dress that fits apart from that, you could even message potential tailors to ask if this is something they could do in the time available. That way, you know what's possible before buying the dress.

I have used JJs house and they are good, but not sure on your timings if you will have enough time to get it and if it isn't right again you have less time to find something. Have you looked at an adult sizing, as the bust area will likely be bigger than a teens one, so could she get a 6/8 to fit waist? Or the other option is to get it altered, we are doing that for one of my BM's as she has huge chest but is also only 5ft2 and has a tiny waist. I got the Mischa dress from Monsoon as the cut is good for smaller waists and the cups are quite roomy

Well yes JJs House are amazing but you might struggle for delivery in time. Having said that I ordered a sample BM dress on 4th Jan and received 17th Jan. Quality and price are great but sizing is hit and Miss and we sent ours back as too big. We will reorder though as we have 5 months and I’m really impressed with choice and quality.

Depends on what sort of thing you like, but Cicinia have consistently good reviews, and they will make dresses to measure at no additional cost. They also have a huge range of colours and styles, so this is probably what I'm going to go for with my bridesmaids!
