The dresses you didn't get...

GeordieBarbie, 20 February, 2010 at 14:37 Posted on Planning 0 34

Just for fun I decided to look at the dresses I had on my short list from my first dress shopping apoointment. How about a flash of the ones that got away... ?

In order:

Maggie Sottero Phillippa - known as "dream dress". The one I made my appointment especially to try on. Sadly was imediately discounted due to be a tiny size and not being able to get into it

(Both crossed off before 2nd trip)
Sottero & Midgley JSM1095
Benjamin Roberts 2051

The one's that nearly made it...

Maggie Sottero Melissa Bouquet
Contstantine Christina

The first i loved was AA... i still love it actually, just never got to try it as i changed the style i was looking for before my shopping trip...

The second one i loved was an ian stuart but as a one off i dont have any pics of it, though it was similar to:

But had a fishtail shape to it. That made me fall in love with the shape/ halterneck. so then i found Benjamin roberts which i intended to add a halter too, i soon found that it was probably going to be out of my budget still, then came across an very similar one by Ellis bridal, so this took me to a local dress shop that stocked ellis, although they didnt have that particular one i liked a few ellis. I then decided on:

But when i went back to show my CBM i didnt like it and panicked, didnt get it then found the one i have bought (and just incase i changed my mind again i tried it on a few times just to make sure...this is my dress: Sorry the pics have all came out big!

When I started out I was convinced I would get a tea length/50s style dress covering my shoulders. something like this:

Then OH saw someone on 4 weddings in a tea length dress and really slated it!

The first one I tried that I really loved was this Lyn Ashworth, but it was just over £2000 so way out of my price range.

Then I went to another shop and the assistant picked out my dress for me!

Have to say that I still pine a little for the old tea length dress, but I think that if I had that I would be wanting a whole different feel to the wedding - maybe a city venue or something more relaxed. So now Im happy that the dress fits the wedding we are having!

    Sid xx

I must admit I am really starting to have wobbles about mine at the mo!

My dream dress would have been

But was way out of my price range so ended up getting this one which should have been £910 but got it for £395. I think my main problem is I am worried about the colour because it's not the "traditional" ivory and just because I am a big girl anyway I think I will be ok I'm just worried I may look back and think If only you know how it is! Plus the fact I was not able to try dresses on other than this because there were no more in my size

The first 2 were the first 2 i really liked from magazines.

Then I saw Maggie 'Brielle' and fell in love with it. Got a shop to order it in. Tried on 5 other dresses in that shop first in a range of styles just to be sure and the minuite i put it on i wanted it!

So expensive though so now i am getting it made and i am super scared!!! And getting a bit more sparkle added to the bodice!
