Good morning all! So who here is joining me in the great RSVP wait, and those who have had all their replies, how long did they take, and did you have to chase? I'm really anxious/excited to get replies for some reason! :-)

Haha I'm still waiting on 7 to reply our RSVP date was 1st of May - I've given up chasing them 3 I think won't turn up, 1 told me they would decide 2 weeks in advance - umm cheers and the other 2 I will know about a week in advance - one is pregnant with a bit of a rough time of it all at the moment so is still waiting to see if she will get permission from her doctors to fly and the other is trying to juggle things around.

If I'm honest I've given up stressing about it - given approximate numbers to the caterer who is happy with that and will sort them a place out a few days in advance.

I mentioned earlier in this thread that a good male friend of both of ours had asked OH about a plus one. He doesn't have a partner. OH had told him no we were already over our numbers.

Yesterday the male friend rang me and asked me if what OH had said was true!!!!!

Then started going on about not wanting to come on his own and that he'd got a friend he'd like to bring.

I told him we could accommodate all our guests but we were over our budgeted numbers. But we were not giving plus ones to anyone unless they didn't know anyone at the wedding, he will know lots of people at the wedding. We had decided our guest list and we do not want strangers at our wedding.

He seems to have accepted this. It did take all my self control not to rip into him. Ringing me to question what OH had told him. I told OH last night and he's not happy, but he's a lot more laid back than me so not sure he'll say anything. If the situation had been reversed I would have been on the phone to friend to tell him where to go.

I had already had a discussion with OH about not using numbers as an excuse with people because it is essentially saying 'what you are requesting is perfectly reasonable, unfortunately we can't accommodate it' when in fact what they are requesting is rude. Don't make excuses, tell people the truth, OH now understands why I was so adamant about this.
