The trend for wearing jeans under the bum

POD, 10 September, 2008 at 10:33 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 24

Does anybody know what is behind the current trend for teenage boys to belt their jeans halfway down or under their bum so you get an eyeful of (often manky) boxers?

I feel like walking up behind them and pulling them their jeans up.

As far as i know it's all about being "gangsta".

In America, prisoners have their belts taken off them and their trousers fall down. To wear your trousers like this in out of prison is a symbol that you had spent time inside. For some unknown reason, this has become a cool symbol for teenage kids in suburbs (and everywhere else). I'm not entirely sure i understand why though...

Agree to C.G and in addition the reason they do it here is to show their "symapthy" for their gangsta "brothers"

OH does this, and I've no idea why, he calls it 'precision belting' and says it's more comfortable as he doesn't like things round his waist.........?

    Really, how bizarre.

A lot of them don't look old enough for their voices to have broken let alone to have spent time in prison but i'm sure they're very upset about their 'gangsta' brothers in the US.

Strange. Looks like it will be a chilly fashion for winter. Doubt it would be quite so cool if it was longjohns they were flashing.

Out of interest, how old is your OH?

I have a theory that "droopy jeans" only affect the 13 - 25yr old bracket...

My Step Son does this - and I have no idea why!!!! It is great when he bends over to pick something up or leans over and there it is the boxers!!!! H has sort of said something to him but he is still doing it and is comfortable with it. He has also been completely ridiculed by family members and even people from our local pub! But he insists it is fashionable and 'honestly we know nothing' ?

It is the day when skid marks show - I think that will be the day it stops!!! Minging ?

I have actually seen one poor boy go head over heels after his jeans sank so low they passed his knees and tripped him up. Always surprised it doesnt happen more often

Walking back from a football match (this is of no relevance at all) I saw a bloke wearing jeans like this who did, in fact, have a massive skid mark on his beige checked boxers. And .. I have recently seen a few girls 'rocking' this look.

Still, I did used to wear my tracksuit bottoms rolled up to mid-calf and thought my dad was lame when he asked me if I was waiting for the floods.

I also have to fight the urge to go and yank them up - it would probably be considered as assault or sexual harassment though.

I often wonder how they physically stay up!

He's 33.......? all his mates do it, but most of them are in the 19-25 bracket...... It gets embarrassing when his 9 year-old-cousin tells him to pull his pants up.......

I have been known to shout out ofthe car window 'pull up your trousers' when I'm feeling particulary fish wifey. It annoys to hell out of me as well and it seems to that most of the boys on my uni course wear their jeans half way down their legs.

? Excellent, that must have been the funniest thing to see (assuming that the lad in question suffered nothing more serious than embarrassment)

Hmmm. funniest moment I have ever witnessed was a gangsta-jeaned teenager and his mates walking along... one of them tried to leapfrog a bollard (why?! Whhhhy would you do it?! ?) got the web of fabric beween his knees caught, and nearly gave himself a bloody nose because he nearly smashed it on the bottom of the bollard as he went arse over tit.

I have never seen anything funnier than this for sheer slapstick. I was on my own and nobody else saw. He was at the back of the group so none of his mates saw. About 40 yards later I bumped into a friend who thought I was having an asthma attack but I couldn't breathe for laughing when I collapsed on her.

The problem is, they buy jeans with a 25" leg - so if they actually wore them on their waist, they'd look like Chooken - as if they were waiting for the floods.

I find it hilarious that a 33 year old man wears jeans like that. At least kids have the excuse of being young and stupid ?.

It looks so flippin uncomfortable. The lads i've seen doing it are generally walking funny to keep their jeans from falling to their ankles.

PMSL at HaloHoney, i'd have been in hysterics.

TBH you just kinda get used to it lol, also he wears longish t-shirts mainly so you can really see anything unless he bends over!

Mr FW wears his jeans like that on more than the odd occasion <shakes head sadly>. However, he is only just 24, so I guess his fashion gene hasn't yet developed.

I was in my boss' car the other day and some total nobber dressed in exactly this fashion strolled out in front of me, making me do an emergency stop. He smirked and carried on walking slowly across the road, until he saw his bus pull up. He then began running and his jeans promptly fell down to his ankles and he went arse over tit into a heap on the floor. ?? AND he missed the bus.

Poetic justice is a beautiful thing.

?? at the sloppy jeans traumas on here.

The cooler they think they are, the funnier the incidents, I'm sure. ?

I have also seen this on teenage girls - one memorable occasion was on a bus. Said girl got up and walked to the front to get off, noticably wearing a pair of Burberry boxers. While waiting to get off she pulled the boxers up, leaving her jeans half way round her bum!

This trend has been around in Dudley for years now and I still can't figure out how they keep their jeans up.

I believe I overheard one of his mates say "What you fallen over for you fookin' bell end" at the same time as readjusting his own jeans and a few paces later, checking his hair in a car window. ?

I saw a bloke wearing trousers like this the other day. Him and his wife/gf were sat next to me in a queue. He got up to go and get something, and as he did so gave everyone a flash of his bum crack. His suitably embarrassed wife/gf hissed at him "..and pull your trousers up"

I have to say of those of you who have the urge to pull their jeans up....pulling them down (a la someone on this thread did earlier but I can't remember who) would be infinitely funnier!
