Themes and colours?!? Help me again please....

Mrs Cav 2 B, 10 August, 2008 at 20:27 Posted on Planning 0 12

Hi Girls...

Need your help again!!!... not sure if it is normal to want/need as much help and advice as i need... at this rate you guys will be fed up of hearing from me - just like H2B is, then again i guess i do still have nearly two years - ... but here goes....

I want the wedding to have a diamond theme... coz i love them... like all girls... was thinking of having a chocolate brown, ivory and gold colour scheme.. i want everything to match and fit in with the diamond theme... so do you think these colours and the diamonds will be ok?

I would have liked some pink in there but H2B is not feeling it☹️...i know black and white/silver would be good but not sure if i feeling that...?

What do you think?

And any good ideas for diamond theme or colour scheme while i here?

Thanks

Sarah

    Hi ya

To be quite honest with you I think you might be throwing too much at your wedding. You ideally would like a four way colour theme and then diamonds on top. You could run the risk of it being a bit too much.

As a planner I usually restrict the colours to a three way combination unless it's something like a jewel theme or it's a collection of bright colours eg red, orange, yellow, pink etc

Personally, I love Tiffany Blue with diamonds. The themes work well for obvious reasons but it all depends on the colours of your reception room. It doesn't work if you have a bright red swirly carpet and ornate curtains for example, so consider the carpets and curtains when either choosing your theme or vice versa if you are looking for your venue after you've chosen your theme.

I love brown with the blue as a combination

However, you might hate the idea of blue. If you really wanted to go with the brown I would just go with ivory and diamonds and take out the gold.

I think Ruth is right! You don't want too many colours or it will start to look a bit un co-ordinated and I love tiffany blue too!

Personally, I'm not sure that gold and diamonds really go together. I'd see gold as a kind of warm colour, that would go well with reds and oranges. Diamonds are more of a "cold" colour, so go well with silvers and blues. When it comes to colours, I think less is definitely more!

Yup, loving it though. Had another lush wedding on Friday it was just brilliant. Problem now is getting ready for all of the wedding shows coming up and working on all of the weddings. I've just started to take bookings for 2010 now! I can't think past the next few weeks let alone years! Did you see my new website? i'm just waiting on the photos back from the photographer with images of the wedding I used your bunting for. He's being a nightmare, but then he's as busy as me. The photos of the tubs with Gypsohilia and gingham were from the country themed wedding where we used your bunting. It really did look fab. www.finesseplanning.co.uk - second page of the gallery

I think the colours would look fine, there are lots of ways to incorporate Diamonds as well.

Something like ythis as place names but add Diamantes around the edge of the card:

Table Centres on mirrors with these Giant Faux Diamonds non Mirrors:

    Edible Diamonds on your cakes:

    Diamantes added to your flowers:

    Hi ya

That's why I wouldn't use the gold, purely because the items I've seen with faux diamonds are on silver and I just wouldn't mix the two together. If you really wanted to go with the brown and ivory I would look at introducing diamonds very simply with sprays of diamante in your flowers, using stick on diamante on stationary and faux diamonds on the tables and something on the cake and that's it. oh, possibly on your dress too.

Whatever you do I'm sure it will be just want you want.

    Ruth
