Thieving rob dogs

CountDuckula, 26 February, 2009 at 09:43 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 6

I want to replace the windows in my flat with uPVC double glazed. As it's leasehold, I phoned to leasholders to get permission. I need to send them £170 for a license giving me permission. One hundred and seventy fucking quid for a bit of paper ?

I had a similar experience. Lived in a terraced house in Bootle (Liverpool) for umpteen years, paying something like £2.50 ground rent a year (a bargain, we thought) then when we moved, we had to pay something like £150 to assign the lease to the new owners - thieving gits....

Annoying isn't it. I've no choice to pay it unless I want them to come round and rip my windows out!

I feel your pain. It cost us the best part of £7k to eventually move and get out of our lease (slightly complicated situation) and they really were theiving rob dogs. My hairdresser, who had had a flat with the same freeholder went to the leaseholder's association, and one of the experts turned to the other and said 'ooh, <freeholder> when did he get out?'.

We are leasehold and just pay the ground rent per quarter. We have had a lot work done to the house inc new windows and never paid them anything extra.

Yes, but if you change anything without permission they can screw you (that'[s what happened to us)

That's outrageous. i never paid my lease company anything, although i needed their permission

after all, you're adding to the value of the flat, and lessening their maintenance bill. cheeky sods.

I'm freehold now (another terraced house in another part of Liverpool) but I do have a covenant in the freehold not to run a soap making factory, a brewery or a tannery from the house [rofl]
