Tights, stockings, etc

Weather Girl, 13 August, 2009 at 08:58 Posted on Planning 0 24

Does everyone wear either tights/stockings, etc under the dress? I've only just thought about this. To be honest I wasn't going to bother but then I just had this stupid thought in my head that I should do really.

I'd be interested in the answer to this one - I was thinking a garter belt and stockings (going for that sexy look!!!!)

I thought about this a while back, but have now decided against it, as stockings or hold ups up on me are a pain. They roll down my chunky thighs not a nice look ?, which would mean going down the full tights. So I have decided against it, I am going to so hot underneath my dress I don't want anything else to make me hotter. Also going the loo, would bound to end up with a nice ladder in them.

I am having my legs watched next Thursday and a pedicure etc. So will exfoliate my legs he next day so nice and smooth

I went bare. I'd have boiled in tights or stockings, and it wasn't even particularly hot on my day. Your wedding dress will keep you very warm!

I'm not bothering .... when I tried my dress on at the fitting the other day it was all a bit hot anyway .... will have some sexier attire to pop on when I get back to the hotel so for the day it's pure functionality all the way!

I'm having a dilemma about this too - my big fat thighs rub together when I walk so I need to have something to stop them getting all sore, so was going to wear tights but now I'm concerned I'll get too warm. I might just wear the "shorties" my Mum got me, they're like cycling shorts but made of tights material.

Thanks ladies. I guess I was just a bit worried that it wasn't the "done thing" to go bare! I really don't think I could be doing with the hassle to be honest, especially with the whole going to the loo business!

On a slightly different note, would you suggest going for a thong or nice brief/french knicker under the dress? My dress isn't particularly clingy in that area so I'm wondering whether I need to worry about a VPL.

Sorry if I'm hijacking the thread, but what sort of tight/stocking would be suitable with an open-toe shoe. My dress is calf length and I'm looking to wear a fab pair of shoes!

I didn't bother with tights or stockings. To be honest with all the dress and underskirt i would have been really hot ?

If you do want/have to wear tights or stockings, you can get some that are specially made for wearing with open-toed shoes. They don't have a seam on the toe area at all. I have some somewhere that I bought for the work Christmas party, but can't remember where I got them from. Probably somewhere like Waitrose. I certainly didn't have to go to a specialist shop or anything like that.

Dumblespud - you can get toeless tights and stockings. Most places that sell normal tights and stockings will sell them.

I'm going bare underneath - will be too hot otherwise, and it's one more layer to navigate on toilet trips!

I have the opposite problem to most people in that Im worried about being too cold!

I'm getting married in February and not planning to wear much in the way of a cover up. I was hoping to keep warm with lots of hidden layers underneath ? tights AND thermal knickers AND leg warmers here I come! I've even been wondering if I can fit a pair of socks on under my wedding shoes...

I think it would really finish your whole look off nicely. You don't want to blend in to your guests do you? Hmm?
