Timings for October Wedding

getmetothechruchontime, 29 October, 2012 at 18:24 Posted on Planning 0 3

I'm booking my venue tomorrow and wondered if you could help me with timings.

We are provisionally booking the date for the reception only as we want to get married else where (a five minute car journey).

What time do you suggest for getting married we're having a drinks reception and sit down meal at the reception place but I have no clue what time to get married or to have DJ booked or anything like that. I would like to decorate the venue myself so I have to allow time in the morning for this if it can't be done the night before.

I also need to allow time for pictures but I don't know how long things like this will take - any advice is very much appreciated.

The clocks don't go back until the 27th so I presume it's before that date?

I would try and have the wedding as early as possible to get as much natural daylight as possible for photos.

Personally I'd go for no later than 1pm but that will reduce the opportunity to set up in the morning.

I did a post about this a while ago but can't find it anywhere!

    Ours is roughly...
    1.30pm - service.
    2.30 pm - leave church
    3pm - arrive at venue
    3-4.30pm - drinks and photos
    4.30-5pm - speeches
    5-7.30pm - dinner
    7.30 - evening guests arrive
    8pm - cut cake
    8.15pm first dance
    8.30 - band come on
    10pm evening buffet
    Midnight - home time

Exactly this! Plus it gives you more time to mix with your guests. You won't feel so rushed!

    The timings above are perfect.
