tip top cream

teenybash, 10 June, 2008 at 17:13 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 4

Anyone remember this?

i think it was similar to carnation milk. as it is sunny outside i have had a summer-related flashback to childhood when my mother did her seasonal tea:

corned beef with salad followed by fruit salad (from a can) covered in tip top or carnation milk.

sometimes, we'd have ice cream with ice magic over the top for pudding instead.

now that was 1980s foodie exotica!

Ahhh, Tip top & Ice Magic! I loved them both! I used to pour loads of ice magic onto my ice cream, making sure i filled the gaps, and then hack away. Mmmm, I can almost taste it.

when i was very small, i couldn't figure out what some of the fruit was. it was pear. grainy, horrible pear. and it took me a few years to be brave enough to eat a real grape as well.

I love tip top and often have it when I'm at home. My dad loves it too on things like trifle. My mum says it is common and refuses to buy it so my dad buys some every now and again and waits for me to go home to visit and we share it!
