Tips for 'padding out' a dress!!

MrsB-to-be, 12 March, 2013 at 22:34 Posted on Planning 0 8

Apologies in advance for this one, but I was wondering if anyone had any tips for brides with a smaller bust...

I'm a size 6/8 and have gone with a strapless dress, sweetheart neckline. Love the dress and the shape is v flattering, but could do with some 'help' to pad the dress out round the bust!! It's got a low back so can't wear a bra either. Any ideas?!

PS: eating more pies/cake/chocolate is not an option!!

Is it possible to get cups sewn into your dress, I did this with mine as I have small boobs. I then added extra padding with some Anne summers chicken fillets in the cups.

The lady doing the alterations on my dress did show me some cups, but I'm not sure how they'd hold the chicken fillets?!

I thought about getting one of those adhesive bras?

Is it that the dress itself needs filling that can't be done by alterations? Or is it just that you want to look fuller up top? If it's the latter, why the need to change how you look? Do you generally wear padding? If so, I can understand you wanting to pad out, if not, your H2B obviously loves you for your own natural shape so why be something different on the day? Tbh my dress would maybe suit a fuller bust in it, but after 3 lots of breastfeeding there's not a great deal left lol xx

When I tried my dress on it was massive all over and will be altered so it should fit better... I've recently lost the best part of a stone and have come off the pill, so I'm feeling extra self conscious about having a small bust... have lost 2 cup sizes Smiley sad. I'm hoping to swap onto a different pill this month so crssing my fingers that helps, but i feel very self-conscious without a bra, which is why i was thinking of trying the 'stick on' bras!

Oh I see- well done on the weight loss but I can understand your self consciousness given your recent shape change. My weight naturally fluctuates by about 1 1/2 stone every 18 months or so so my bust does get a bit fuller at times (still only a b cup at tops but rounder with it). In fact, my best boobs have defo been while I was feeding the wee ones but there's no chance of that happening again! Still OH loves them in all their saggy glory so I wouldn't get too hung up on it if I were you- we are defo our own worst critics. I'm sure you will look fabulous regardless. Ask again about the cup inserts, but remember you need to feel comfortable for a long time at the same time as feeling confident. Happy hunting xx

I don't dig the adhesives, I found once you get a little sweaty they fall off, major wardrobe malfunction! I'd go with the sown in cups!

Have you told the seamstress you want a bigger bust? They can do amazing things with what they sew in, etc, and as others have suggested, I had cups sewn into mine.

    Hi Smiley smile

I too have the same probelm booby wise.

My dress is very low backed so i cant wear any type of bra.?

However , due to the pure genius of my seamstress, she instantly solved the problem.

I have a fab padded bra which she is going to 'sew into the dress' so the back is cut off, leaving the cups and thats sewn in place and it works brilliantly!

(You could buy a cheap one from primark or similar)

I hated the idea of slipping chicken filets or trying to stick a bra on, so I am really happy this was her solution!

    Worth a thought xx

I have the exact same problem, so thanks for starting a thread!!

I think Sara has a brilliant idea, think I'll definitely be asking if the seamtress will sew in a padded bra to help!
