Tips for wedding suppliers?

snowshine123, 19 April, 2022 at 20:13 Posted on Etiquette and Advice 0 8

Hi, just wondering if anyone knows/aware of giving tips out to the wedding suppliers on the wedding day? One of my close friends got married a few years ago and she had cash tips for her wedding suppliers (e.g. photographer, venue, catering, hair/makeup) ready on the day. I've since tried to google online if this is the etiquette but cannot find anything??

If I feel a wedding supplier has gone and above beyond, then I would be happy to give a tip but wasn't sure when to do this? Or even how much - is 10% sufficient? One of my friends is making our wedding cake for mates rates, so I'll definitely give her a tip when she arrives for Evening Reception.

Any advice, tia Smiley smile x

Personally is not something l would do, I am paying the price they quoted and expect to receive what I paid for, tipping mg suppliers is not something I have ver heard of if I am honest. They are a business, they charge what they are comfortable with and doubt would expect a tip. For your friend who is make Ng your cake at makes rates, yes I would probably get her a token gift as you haven't paid full price

Nah, it’s an American thing to tip everyone for everything. Not the done thing over here so save yourself the hassle and cash!

Agree with other ladies, not the done thing here and probably another Americanism that has crept in. I will be paying the price they quoted and that’s it!

I'm paying for lunch for our photographer that's about £15/20 so reckon that will be enough on top of their invoice

Its so unusual that my first thought was that you were asking for "tips" - as in, suppliers should answer messages quicker or be just as loverly after they have booked you Smiley xd .

Supplier tips are not needed or expected - as mentioned you already pay enough. Paying for food for the photographer has always been a debated issue and I say it is not necessary to provide food but some even have it in their contracts that you have to pay for their food.

The biggest tip or reward a supplier can receive is a nice review for their social media.

Any friends that have supplied for you then absolutely a gift as you feel fit, make them feel extra special by giving it out at the speeches.

I definitely would not top suppliers. Who I will top is the wait staff as they will be teenagers on minimum wage working their butts off with usually no thanks. So I'll leave a tip for them to split.

I think it's very American to tip. In the UK we typically include "service" in the price stated on contracts (just like many restaurants do). The only thing I've heard is that you really ought to provide a "vendor meal" for your photographer as they will be working all day long.

If you're particularly impressed with someone I'd leave a nice review and maybe personal a thank you card Smiley smile
