Whilst I appreciate that TK MAXX were wrong here, it is my understanding that they removed the jackets as soon as they realised and only a couple were actually sold. I think the media outrage is wrongly placed here, surely the company/designer that thought making a jacket with a hidden knife should be the ones plastered all over the media.

The only 'boob' is the fact that the store didn't realise the knife was there and hence were not adhering to the law concerning selling sharp pointy things to minors.

The knife (a sub 3", non locking folder and hence UK legal) is not "concealed" or "hidden" any more than anything else anyone has in their pockets.

The thing that does annoy me is that the knife is fastened to the jacket, which is not good drills.

Who was the jacket aimed for in the first place? Is it a fishing jacket or something?

Kinda pseudo-outdoor wear. You get them throughout mainland Europe, they have... Pen knives, funny wee tool gadgets, bottle openers.. All sorts of things, depending on the jacket.

    Ho-Hum

So it's not the jacket that's the problem, it's the fact TK Maxx were selling knifes (albeit indirectly) to underage youngsters?

    Or may have done so....

I'd have said, realistically, that's the problem. The press seem to disagree.

There's pictures of it on the Sun website.

Surely they would have had a description of the coat when they ordered them though, 'with knife attached' or something? Well I would have thought so anyway.

I'm inclined to assume that no-one in TK-Maxx would actually be so stupid as to order the coats if the description said they came with a knife.

Although it'd also be pretty stupid of the manufacturer of the coats to not mention it - although as has already been mentioned, the knives are legal in the UK - just not to be bought by underage people, so perhaps they thought it didn't need to be mentioned.

TK Maxx would have a QA department who would have to pass products before allowing them to be ordered from the suppliers and sold. Quite how they could have missed the fact that a jacket had a knife escapes me.

Blimey looking at the pics of that jacket its quite alarming.

Surely that kind of thing should be aimed more towards a camping retail store?Bit silly of TK maxx not to check the actual garment really
