To train or not to train

Lucy, 8 July, 2022 at 16:22 Posted on Wedding Attire 0 1
Help! I just got my dress back from the seamstress and tried it in again at home, and though the length at the front is perfect, the train feels ENORMOUS now that the front is shorter. Even bustled it still drags a little (and is heavy!) and I feel like I'm just swamped by this massive train. I'm tempted to call the seamstress back and have the train shortened. That said, it is absolutely BEAUTIFUL, with all that lace and it has a sparkly under-layer, and I didn't feel like it looked too long in the shop in the mirror but maybe I was getting caught up in the moment? My head is saying that such a long train is impractical but I feel like I'm wasting such a gorgeous dress if I get the train chopped off... what should I do?!

Keep the train! You only ever get to wear one dress with a train. It's now or never Smiley smile

I absolutely loved my cathedral length train, which was way longer than what I expected it to be. At first I was a bit in shock but it was totally worth it. In the end I even managed to dance with it unbustled and all the stories about tripping etc I think are more urban legends. It doesn't really cause a problem.

I did have a loop to carry the dress around when necessary and that helped a lot for outdoor pictures. My mum sewed it in for me just before the wedding. And my word did the train look good in the pictures! I don't regret it at all.
