Too early to buy dress?

pooksgirl, 27 July, 2017 at 23:14 Posted on Planning 0 3

Hi Folks,

I posted a few days about asking about Berketex Bridal, but since then I visited the Wed2B store near to me and I've fell in love with a dress. But our wedding isn't until 30th Sept 2018 so 14months away.

Is this too early to buy this dress? My mum is saying if I love it to go for it, but then my future MIL is saying not to rush into it, wait til I've seen other dresses etc. My fiancé hasn't said anything either way.

I'm torn on what to do. I don't anticipate losing weight but 14months is a long time, but then I didn't think I'd find a dress I loved as much so quickly so I've reluctant to risk losing out on it. Plus with Wed2B you buy the dress and take it away there and then.

Arghhh!!! I don't know what to do!

Mine's been at my mum's house for the better part of five months, I get married next April, it was a one off and took me eight shops and around eleven months to find x

Buy it and stop looking. If you've fallen in love then you need to just take the bull by the horns and go for it. Don't second guess yourself as you'll end up trying on hundreds of dresses and confusing yourself.

Even if you do end up losing weight, you can get it altered so you shouldn't worry about that. Honestly you will kick yourself if you don't buy it as you might end up not finding another one that you love as much. I had a short window of time to find my dress as I live in Asia at the moment and I was back in the UK for just 2 weeks in April to book the venue, get the caterer, photographer, and the dress - so I didn't have the luxury of shopping around. I went to 4 shops and found The One in the last shop. Haven't looked at wedding dresses online since because I don't want to confuse myself or convince myself that there's better out there. Once you've bought it it's done, you can stop thinking about it and it's one more thing ticked off the list!

    Good luck! x

I had a similar dilemma, as I went to two shops and found the one, and then came home and thought what if I haven't tried on enough! So I went back and tried on lots of other shapes and styles (asked them not to show me anything above the cost of the dress I loved as it was in budget) and my one still came out as the winner! This was with about 14 months to go too! Go for it but as said above, stop looking after you've found it. You'll probably save yourself stress in the long run, as some brides try on loads of dresses and still can't find one they like!
