Top tips for getting wedding abroad

Mrsdtobe2506, 22 July, 2021 at 08:22 Posted on Honeymoons & Getting Married Abroad 0 2
Hi everyone!
Me and my fiancé’s are getting married abroad next year in the Maldives. It’s legit a dream!
I have never been to a wedding abroad so on true style the first one I go to would be mine haha!
So I’m after some advice from other who have / are getting married abroad. Any top tips would greatly be appreciated. From what to carry on the plane, pack, take with me to how to prepare on the island etc
Any little tips that will make things easier would be amazing. ☺️

Hello! This sounds amazing! How exciting! I am also after this advice, have you managed to find any wedding insurance for abroad?

    Sounds dreamy!!

I'm not getting married abroad but I have travelled to a lot of hot beachy countries for work (I was very lucky in my old job!) and found that islands can vary so much with things like insects/bites and humidity. If you haven't already, I'd really recommend going out there in advance of your wedding and seeing how your body reacts to it. For example, when I used to travel around the Caribbean, I'd be totally bite free in Grenada and Barbados but covered in Dominica and Jamaica unless I bug sprayed religiously every hour! If you know this you can plan what to have on hand not just on the day but in the days you'll be on the island before the wedding.

Not an abroad wedding, but we are having a summer beach wedding. We're planning on providing lots of sunscreen, water, fans and maybe even parasols for our guests - different people burn or get faint in the sun easier than others, and we don't want anyone bowing out early because they forgot to bring this stuff with them! Also putting dry shampoo and face powder in the bathroom for a quick refresh if my hair and skin get a bit sweaty or greasy in the heat!

I've been recommended strongly by others to have a microphone for the ceremony, as being outside on a beach where there's the sea breeze it can be really hard for even the front row guests to hear apparently.

    Hope that helps Smiley smile

Really interested to hear what other things you're planning too for a beachy wedding! I've got my colour scheme and have just started thinking about decor!
