Totally underwhelmed after 1st dress fitting :o(

em-ster, 27 May, 2008 at 21:42 Posted on Planning 0 2

So today I went along for my first dress fitting and didn't really get what I had bargained for

Yes my dress is gorgeous etc but it doesn't bloody fit . Well, it kind of fits in that it's extremely flattering but I can't sit down - fat load of good that is eh?

Oh yeah, and there is ripple of fabric over my middle / across my hips where there shouldn't be one (I'm an unfleshy size 8 across my middle so it's not my gut!)

So the long and the short of it is that they are going to let the dress out as much as possible across the hips. They think this will reduce the ripple (which apparently another girl experienced with the same dress last week) and give me the freedom of movement I'm missing at the minute.

All well and good that they have got a plan, but with 5 weeks to go, I can't afford for them to get it wrong. I think they should have ordered the dress in a 12 not a 10 so that there is more room to play with. What the hell do I do if it doesn't work when I go back??????????

This is not at all how I was expecting to feel and has totally taken the shine off things - huge big BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOO

Oh no Em! That must be a nightmare! I'm worrying about my first fitting on Friday, but for the opposite reason. I've lost a ton of weight since I ordered my dress and I know it's not going to fit, but at least they should be able to take mine in. Letting it out is supposed to more difficult, but it's good that they have a plan and aren't phased by it at all. If it's happened to someone else then they must know it works as they'll have done the same thing for her.

    Chin up!

Oh no...I'm sorry it wasn't quite as you had hoped. This is a big worry of mine as I was persuaded into ordering a 10 (which was 1/2 inch too small on the bust) rather than a 12 (which was, in fairness, absolutely enormous) and I'm very nervous about actually trying my dress on (it should be in any day now).

I'm sure they'll be able to sort it though - they must be experienced with this sort of thing. When are you going back? Is it a corset back? Because if not that might be another option if it still isn't perfect when you go back. But really, don't despair, I'm sure they'll be able to fix it.

Did you take any pics? Or do you have any to remind yourself why you fell in love with it in the first place?
