Traditions

Mila, 1 February, 2023 at 18:49 Posted on Etiquette and Advice 0 1
Hello. Newly engaged. I'm from European country. My fiance is British. His family loves me, I love them. I'd like to ask for any advice on what are the traditions for after engagement, planning wedding and the wedding itself? Silly example, we did get a congrats card from his parents a day after. I'd never receive one from my side of family... his parents will give us some money as a gift. None from my parents... I want his mom to be involved as much as she wants. I'm not super close with my mom. Should I tell her that I'd be delighted if she'd be with me and help,to .Ale decisions?
Any advice much appreciated.

I think you should respond to people based on how excited and interested they seem, and how much they mean to you. If you get on with his mum and think she'd like to be more involved, I would offer. I am close with my mum and she was with me when I bough my dress, but I've recently asked my future mother in law if she'd like to come to one of my fittings and be there when I get ready in the morning (she doesn't have any daughters herself) and she's thrilled about it! She can always say no. We do have some traditions here but a lot of British people don't know them all, you can take or leave them, and I wouldn't be too influenced by them myself!
