Hello Chelsea, I'll be very honest, it's quite far between venues, but I am a UK wedding photographer. I expect in bigger countries such as the USA it's not actually that far. I think in the 100's of weddings I've photographed 20 minutes has been the max journey time between venues. You've also got to add on an additional 20% onto the journey time, incase there's traffic, so you're talking roughly 10 additional minutes. But, it's your wedding, if all your guests drive and your family are happy to travel that distance then why not.

I’d feel so yes, but that doesn’t mean you can’t do it! If it’s what you want then go for it girl!

I still think it’s far, but with it being supplied does change things from a guests view. However, it may eat a lot into your day?

    I know right!
The thing is, do what you want and if people really want to be there then they will!

If you’re getting married at a decent time and it’s weekday, you should be able to miss any traffic!

It’s in Italy so hopefully the scenery distracts the guests from the journey time ! Xx

Oh okay, that changes things massively then! If people are flying to Italy for you, then what’s another 40 minutes! X

If you are providing transport between ceremony and reception, are you expecting guests to leave their cars at the reception venue (because that will mean two lots of 40 minutes, travelling to and from the ceremony venue). If not, how do they get back to the ceremony venue?

The wedding is in Italy. So I’m sorry planning to marry in a church at the location where people would stay and then provide the transport to and from the reception

That’s not too far at all! I went to a wedding in Italy last year which was in the middle of no where was hard to find decent accommodation and we had to get taxis too and from the wedding venue (was things going on for 3 days for the wedding, so all 3 days) it sounds like a hassle but honestly as guests we weren’t fussed and just got on with it because it was such a fun time. Try not to worry too much about organising so much for guests at the end of the day it’s your wedding and trust me people will be able to manage themselves. And you’re putting on transport for them so even better!! Enjoy!! X

They had a pool party as they had a pool at the venue , do you? If so then it’s a great idea as everyone may have sore heads the next day so a nice way to chill out and see everyone again. If you don’t then you could arrange for everyone to meet at a beach / beach bar if there’s one near? Or maybe a bbq type thing, again if that’s available at your venue xx

I guess the only thing to consider is the age and personalities of your guests if they are all going to have to travel back to their overnight accommodation together - normally, if people are staying over at a wedding venue, it's the reception venue they are staying at, so anyone who wants an early night can just head to bed. But if they have to wait for your transport back to their hotel/guesthouse, they have to wait till everyone leaves, which might not work for elderly guests, those in poor health or introverts! It's also quite a long way to travel at the end of a long day. If you can, I'd find somewhere nearer for the reception, but if not, just be clear about the distances involved, so people know what they are getting into before they accept/decline.

Yeah, it looks far from the place of your marriage. The nearest distance would be better and easy for you.
