tree wood slices!

cupcake baker, 20 May, 2015 at 11:46 Posted on Planning 0 18

Hiya

I was hoping someone could help me.
I'm struggling to find wood tree slices!!
I need loads!!! I require the normal round wood tree slices as centre pieces for 40 tables!!
I also need lots more chunky tall wood slabs, cut tree trunk chunks for decor around marquee and pagodas to go with my rustic woodland theme.
I live in London and wedding is in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.
I've tried contacting some tree/forestry ladscaping companies but they are charging ridiculous amounts!!
Any help advice much appreciated!

Sorry, but I think I'm missing something here. Is your theme rustic woodland or carnival/fairground? Or a mixture of the two? It's just you've posted two messages about two different themes?

Ah! This makes more sense! You might want to update your posts to make that clear, otherwise it might look like you're one of those nasty internet trolls!

I saw the tree slices on eBay for about £8 each. Luckily only need one myself though! You could contact an independent tree surgeon and see if they can help out for a fair rate.

Wood is expensive because it's primary use isn't wedding decoration - it's a source of fuel in a lot of homes etc still and fuel costs!

Unfortunately it's an expensive decoration for weddings unless you live on a farm/ know someone who does.

Do you have a forest farm shop near you? We bought a huuuuuge load of large log chunks for £50 from our local one. Various shapes and sizes. Filled the entire back of the car and the boot!

They also sell wood log slices (mismatched, you choose your own) for £5 each. We got a massive one, at least 40cm across for a fiver. Couldn't believe our luck!

Definitely pop in if you have one near you.

There are quite a few woodlands trust in London where they often have to remove trees due overcrowding or safety concerns. Have you tried contacting them? Richomond park, Sydnems/dulwich woods all spring to mind

We have 2 local to us in Essex. I'm not sure if they're a nationwide chain or just one offs down here. One is just next to Fairlop station on the London central line and the other is over in marks gate (where we got ours from)

I got mine on eBay. Found 10 for £70, and they had loads of different size options.

I tried local tree surgeons and got no joy. I think it's a very odd request from their perspective.

Good luck with the search Smiley smile

For a rustic woodland theme, those wood slices and trunk chunks look amazing, but you’re right they can get pricey fast, especially when ordered in bulk. You might have better luck reaching out to local tree surgeons or arborists who handle removals regularly, as they often have spare wood they’re happy to sell for much less. Firewood suppliers, sawmills, or even local farms can also be good options for chunky slabs and log sections.

When trees are removed for safety or property reasons, the wood is often reused or repurposed, which keeps costs down. That’s something we see a lot with Tree Pruning & Trimming in Moncton , where clients sometimes ask to keep slices or trunk pieces for décor or landscaping. It’s worth asking locally, you may be surprised what’s available if you connect with the right people
