Trying to find bridal shoes without a stiletto heel...

newcastlelou, 15 May, 2010 at 20:55 Posted on Planning 0 6

Hi everyone

My wedding venue doesn't allow stiletto heels in the building where the ceremony takes place in order to conserve their floors (its a heritage site). I've bought my beautiful light pink stiletto sandals for the reception (hooray!) but I'm having difficulty finding a pair of shoes for the service.

I guess it'll have to be flats, which is okay, but something with a slight wedgey heel would be preferable. Does anyone have any ideas? I'll want an ivory pair. Heels are allowed but the bottom has to be bigger than the size of a postage stamp(!)

Thanks ladies

    Hi Lou,

What's your budget? Will have a look online (shoe porn!) for you. Am waiting for H2B to get in, bloody cricket...

Hmmmm will flats work with the length of the dress? DOn't want your dress too long to walk down the aisle. I bought 4 pairs of shoes (I know, I know) before I found the right pair. Keep your eyes peeled everywhere - mine were from Debenhams in the end with a nice sturdy heel!

Would your venue allow stilettos with heel stoppers? They're the plastic things that you stick on the bottom of your shoe to prevent them scratching/sinking into the mud. I'm just wondering about the length of your dress etc as this may prevent you having to have to pin it up in loads of different ways.

Hi, I can't wear stilettos so have opted for a pair of ivory wedges; these are by Benjamin Adams and called Carmen. Sorry if the pic turns out huge!

Actually, following on from my earlier post I checked some of the heel stopper websites and they say that 'clean heels must be worn to all National Trust events to protect their floors' so that probably could be a good solution. I bought some from eBay for a fiver, but there are tons of suppliers out there. They are sometimes called heel stoppers or clean heels. HTH.
