Hi! We are not into the wedding breakfast and are a very informal couple. However we are big into evening parties so we’re planning on doing a Twilight wedding. Our evening food will be a big barbecue and a dessert table - 82 adults, 8 kids - all invited to all. We will include on invitations that there won’t be a 3 course meal.
Just wondering what people’s timings were when they did this?
What we’re sure on: 4pm - Ceremony (we’re sure on this time)4:45 to 6:15 - drinks reception (2 drinks included) with canapés (photos for us) 6:15/6:30 - reception (they will get another drink upon entrance).
This is where our timings get a little fuzzy. What time would you serve the bbq? How has the logistics worked?
We are hoping to have a singer/band and a DJ. We would still look at doing first dance and speeches. Where do you see that fitting in? What we’re worried about is we start with a band but everyone ignores them and goes straight for food and sits down.
We are planning on providing enough seating for everyone, and potentially allocating tables such as ‘brides family’ ‘grooms family’ ‘friends’ but not allocated seating.
Any experience of your own weddings or any weddings you’ve been to that pulled this off well would be great!
